1  Re: Yarnies Scavenger Hunt Round 7 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by clumsy_momma on: October 24, 2013 01:18:12 PM
I received from P_E_S_T today! Such an amazing lady!

Something local- some yarn from what I think is a local alpaca, is that right P_E_S_T? I already have a plan in the making for it! a very pretty gray.:

"M"- a mug warmer. I must admit- I've never used one but I have it on my coffee cup right now. They make cups so much cuter!:

Something dotted- buttons! Some very pretty ones that I'll have to find the perfect project for!:

Something funny- A turtle! I absolutely love what she wrote, "because every journey involves carrying something heavy." My daughter is in love with him:

Something hard- "timeless love." A heart pendant that I will be wearing tomorrow. Smiley

Something green- This is where Kayrun is amazing at organizing partners. P_E_S_T is a therapist and I am one in training. This is for when "you or a client need to turn over a new one." I think this is such an amazing idea and will probably incorporate something like this into my practice. P_E_S_T, you need to tell me how to make these..please.

Something recycled- P_E_S_T is brave! I've tried working with Sari yarn once and I won't do it again! These are to hang in a room for scent with some amazing smelling oil.

Sender's choice- I have a poster on pintrest that is about a therapist's heart and she was inspired by it and made something for inside a knitter's heart. It's a needle roll! I'm in love with this times a million:

Needles to say, I have an amazing partner. Smiley

2  quilling and paint in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by clumsy_momma on: October 16, 2013 09:18:32 AM
I'm not exactly sure where to put this! Mods, if this is in the wrong spot, forgive me please.  Smiley

So, I've finally quilled! I've been following all of the WONDERFUL quillers that are on here and I've been playing around with the idea of trying for months. I've been playing around with this one for a long time. Getting irritated and going back to my safe place (wool and sticks) and then going back to it. I finally finished it two days ago and while it isn't anywhere near the caliber of what some people can do...I DID IT! This is done on an el cheapo 12X12 canvas with acrylic paint for the background.

I learned a lot and have ideas for a different one that will cover the whole canvas.

I have all but two categories figured out and now just working on crafting...I'll figure out those two pesky categories while I work.

A teaser pic:

hmm...? What is this? How is it going to relate to us yarnies? Questions, questions...

4  Re: stash bust multiple weights? (knit or crochet) in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by clumsy_momma on: August 07, 2013 02:14:37 PM
I've been doing the sock yarn blanket by Shelly Kang. Loads of people have done different things with the squares- making a blanket, pillows, table covers, etc...I've used a few different weights ranging from lace weight to a medium weight but that's about it. It takes a lot of time but I love using my leftovers for something rather than throwing them away, storing them for "just in cases."

No recent pictures of mine- This is from when I just began the blanket.

5  Bleach pen attempt in Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects by clumsy_momma on: November 05, 2012 01:19:39 PM
I've been wanting to try doing something with a bleach pen for a long time but couldn't get around to it until this weekend. This is a really fun processes! I know a lot of people use freezer paper (which I didn't have) or free hand (which I don't have the skill for), but I just used regular paper for my stencil and used a box cutter to cut the pattern out. It worked pretty well in my opinion and I can't wait to make more.

This tutorial has been pinned for a very long time but my daughter and I finally had a craft day over the weekend and I decided to finally try this out. My daughter had a blast! We made three but only took pictures of two. The third is nothing but glitter beads and looks the best. One for the neighbor, teacher and then one for home. We're going to use them as a spoon rest in the kitchen...I hope that is safe, I don't see why not. I guess I'll let you all know in a few months if one of us develops some strange abnormalities? Either way, the smell wasn't HORRIBLE. I turned the fan on over the oven and opened the back door to air it out and it wasn't a horrible lingering smell that lasted for hours. We'll be making more of these!

7  Re: FOC Second Chance Wishlist Rd 3 **Gallery** in The Swap Gallery by clumsy_momma on: November 04, 2012 03:42:58 AM
Hi all,

So, I received from Blackabbey the other day but couldn't get around to posting pics until now. We were partners in the Spell My Name swap a while back. Here is what I got:

A was for the tree artwork which is adorable and is on my living room mantel.
N was for a needle felt book which included three sewing needles and has already been filled up with embroidery/crewel needles. There is also another little book to hold buttons (which she included with the book) and such. These are super cute.
D was for dollars and cents. I collect foreign (to me) coins and blackabbey was nice enough to send some. Unfortunately, the package was harmed in transit and these went MIA.
I is for idea notebooks. One of them is set up to where I can hang it near where I get inspired and another one is to carry with me.
E is for personalized stationary which elephants (one of my favorite animals) and there is a range of sizes from regular sized paper to business card size.

Thank you again blackabbey!

8  First needlework project in Needlework: Completed Projects by clumsy_momma on: November 03, 2012 03:21:59 PM
So, this is nothing snazzy like all of the other stuff on here, but I'm still very proud of myself. This is the first time that I've done needlework, I'm usually a strict knitter but wanted to do something different for the other half for his big 30. I wrote it out with using my own handwriting..I pretty much free formed the whole thing and used plied yarn that I just took apart.

This got made into a small pillow for the bedroom. I knit a square and then sewed the two together and stuffed with filler.

I want to try doing this stuff again, I think it may be pretty addictive like knitting though.

Class: Detention with Snape and/or reparo challenge, you decide.
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: the big ass blanket
Project Page Link:
Brief Description: When this challenge was first posted, I had one color done on this blanket...the cream color if you can see it. This originally started off as a (MUCH) smaller blanket that was "gently" loved by my daughter and needed some fixing up. Fixing up meaning completely taking the original blanket apart followed by re-knitting the whole thing and making it larger..although it did not need to be as large as it came out, that was strictly an accident that I just went with when I figured out how large it really was...That's what happens when your circular needle cable is only X long. The original blanket was more of a lap blanket that just covered her legs (for size reference, she is an about to be 9 Y/O) and it is now able to almost fully cover a queen-sized bed. I finally did the last CO last night and it just needs to have some ends weaved in.

This is the before blankie

And the After

Class: Beater challenge
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: eggs
Project Page Link:
Brief Description: I know someone has done something similar to this already, but my daughter and I had craft time a while back and since she loves faberege eggs, we decided to make our own. Once you see the pictures, it will be obvious that neither of us have done something like this before! Smiley We paper mache'd some old plastic Easter eggs and then painted once they dried.
