3  California / California: Central / SF area indie craft friendly retailers on: October 06, 2006 09:16:56 AM
Howdy all!  Team Pickles will be out in SF next weekend (13th-16th) and would love to check out some indie/craft friendly retailers.  We are primarily interested in gift/designer toy shops, but are open to others as well.  We are aware of several already like Double Punch, Super 7, Giant Robot, Wishbone & Rocket World.   We are staying near Union Sq (Post & Mason) and will have a car.  Any suggestions for bars/restaurants/events in that area are welcome also!

Thanks much!

We're selling this year and I'm really looking forward to it!  I heard that last year's event was awesome.  Hope that you'll stop by!

I'm glad the advice has been helpful.  Regarding banks, I would highly recommend Chase- they took over C-bus's Bank One- and seem to be just about everywhere.

Best of luck with your move!  You'll find that Columbus is a very friendly town.  If you're here in September, you may want to also check out Craftin' Outlaws at Skully's Music Diner on Sept 23- lots of crafters & good times.

9  UNITED STATES / Kentucky / Louisville/NKY hot shops on: August 14, 2006 07:47:01 PM
We're heading through Louisville on our Labor Day travels- anyone have recommendations on indie shops, bars, fun restaurants for our visit?  Awesome gift/toy shops would be a bonus.  We've already heard about Ko-pilot!

Not sure where the Comp USAs are, but there are several cute neighborhoods near CCAD that will still be far enough away from Ohio State.  Try Victorian, Italian or German Village.  All cute- with some really pricey and some not so pricey rentals.  $500 for a 2 bedroom will be tough- but if you go through independent realtors, you should be able to find something.  See if you can get your hands on a Columbus Alive or TriVillage (Suburaban) Newspaper somehow- they both have rental properties listed and will give you a good idea of
C-bus goings on.  When in Columbus, I highly recommend checking out Wholly Craft on High St.
