21  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Favorite Color Swap R2- (Signups May 29- June 11) SENDOUTS EXTENDED August 2 on: July 10, 2008 10:53:06 AM
I'm a terrible wretch, I was just to sewing the last thing and found a teal print fabric that would be perfect to make a  fishie pouch...

lets say I'm not likely to get it done to mail by this Friday...

I'm torn between feeling like a terrible partner and giggling madly for finding the stuff for one more thing...

22  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Question about hand sewing and machine sewing on: July 09, 2008 01:48:13 PM
practice will fix that.

and something to think about, anything (sewing wise anyway) done by machine can be done by hand, not everything done by hand can be done by a machine.

lets say the bag is going to practice with projects in it this weekend and the book kept going read me! while I worked the pile down a bit more.

and I'm adding a couple things to the top for the Box...  I just had to dig a bit for the velvet...

25  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / I gots Loots! on: July 08, 2008 07:45:51 AM
and spiffy loots at that..

Everything on top of the needs to get done this week sewing pile.

Book.. one I can take OFF my wish list... gooddie gooddie.. is going to be hard to get the sewing done...

two of the bag one with colors that are closer to right and one with flash to See the details (even if it washes out the lovely colors)

the necklace I got again dark for true color and flash for details (pretty darn professional for 'don't do it well', I think it's neat)

and a handful of silver and glass beads with a good length of satin rattail cording..

hurm.. things are looking a bit distorted so here's the link to my photobucket for better pictures.

Thank You ConfusableBlonde!  Your goodies should be mailed this Friday.

29  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: The most expensive fabric EVER. on: June 30, 2008 08:18:33 AM
My most expensive sewn with was a silk duchess Satin that dinged in at just under $200 a yard... but that was a commission piece not out of my pocket.

30  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: Silk and Silk Types on: June 30, 2008 08:17:01 AM
I did silk for my wedding dress.. Silk Noil, in green, with chocolate velvet and a bit (hem, cuffs and neckline) of beaded trim work.

But! my silk was about $7.50 a yard US  And I'm a historical recreationist geek and have worn it twice since (and have it as a court gown for later)  and I sewed my own.... well.. my verbal skills are failing again...

but I'm not quite the usual wedding dress person, I did things this way Because I wanted to wear the dress again.
