1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / pimp...my lil sunglasses case in new issue of Spunmag.com on: April 24, 2006 03:08:47 AM
It's my first published pattern.  It's simple, but I'm enjoying it.  I might make slight mods and knit up another one to use as a digital camera case.

2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / feather and fan scarf on: January 09, 2006 10:45:42 AM
I never get to post pics here because I don't really have access to a digital camera...

BUT, this weekend I had a few special moments with a friend's digital camera.  All I had on me was my current WIP.

So, voila... 3 skeins into my Noro silk garden feather and fan scarf...

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Sari Silk on: May 30, 2005 10:06:31 PM
I'm just about to start a project with some recycled sari silk.  For some reason or another, I feel cautious about using this yarn.  Is there anything special I should know about knitting with sari silk?  Does it tear easily?

.... I've got first-time jitters!

4  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Interview with Debbie Stoller on: April 12, 2005 07:35:25 PM
There's a new interview with Debbie Stoller over at www.spunmag.com.  What an empowering woman with an interesting life story...

(I'm a bit of a sap when it comes to the animinals, so I found her story about her dog very touching)  Cry
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Designing your own patterns? on: November 15, 2004 12:17:43 AM
Lots of craftsters seem to design their own awesome knitted goods.  Does anyone ever submit their stuff to magazines/books for publishing?

There's a new knitting zine in town that's looking for pattern submissions.  They want funky.  They want alternative goodness. They want YOU!

Here are the deets from the editor:

SPUN: Knitting in the key of alt

Spun Magazine is an online magazine geared at the new generation of knitters.
You know who you are -- you have more in common with Debbie Stoller than Debbie

We will be publishing bi-monthly beginning in February 2005. The site is still
under construction but you can think Bust meets ReadyMade meets Tiger Beat and

The editorial board is looking for previously unpublished knitting pattern
submissions. January/February layouts include I "HEART" YOU (knitted gifts for
the person who you sort of like/ love/ enjoying hanging with), and cocooning
(titles TBD).

Unfortunately, we are unable to pay at this point. (We are developing an
advertising model from which we can demonstrate traffic and impact for potential
advertisers. It's all in the plans.)

Please email your submissions to Mary-Margaret Jones at: murmur_j at yahoo dot com
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / hat from leftovers on: March 18, 2004 10:46:10 AM
when I told my mother recently that I'd been knitting up a storm, she ran to her closet and pulled out an almost-finished scarf that she had made two+  years ago.  I had no idea that she knew how to knit and had never seen her knit anything.  She had forgotten how to cast-off and said that if I helped her finish her scarf that I could have the leftover ball of Matisse yarn.  And so, with half a leftover ball of Matisse and a ball of kilim lovely black wool, I made my mother a hat to go with her scarf.  I surely hope her head is bigger than mine...

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / knitted bag for knitting goodies on: March 18, 2004 08:32:32 AM
I've been looking for a pattern for a big ol' knitted bag for my knitting goodies but am having trouble finding one that (a) I like and (b) will be big enough for all my stuff...

Does anyone have suggestions for great patterns for a knitting bag?  Has anyone made a fabuloso bag for their goodies?
8  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Sofa on the mend on: January 29, 2004 08:02:13 AM
I found a very large wooden couch frame and am planning on making big, fluffy, comfy cushions for it.  Any suggestions as to what the best type of stuffing is for long life and comfort?

Also, the seat of the couch is in dire need of repair.  The springs are ok, but the wire between the springs is going.  Any crafty/carptentry person out there have good ideas on how to refurbish the spring section of the couch?  (perhaps wooden slabs will do, though they may be hard on the butt)
