1  What's this? A FALLING STAR TREE? Watch your heads! in CHALLENGE 39 ENTRIES by MaryAbbie on: June 01, 2009 07:38:26 PM
For the display/preview/whatever it is picture:

One day while I was playing photographer in my mother's garden, I came across a strange and mysterious plant hiding beneath another weird plant.

I looked and ,to my surprise, a little tree had popped up!

I very carefully yanked it up by the roots and set it atop my counter and, upon closer examination, found that from its branches were little, tiny shooting stars.

I bid the ants to watch their heads. Sometimes the stars like to free themselves. =]

Haha not the greatest ,I'm well aware, but I thought it was cute. I started off by making stars and eventually came the falling star tree idea (while watching Stardust ^.^).  I used my Mom's Pottery Barn Magazine to create the paper mache for the trunk and branches and made a bunch of little strips of the paper to make the stars. I made about 70 but I only kept the most perfect ones  Wink.

For size reference:

I named this one Halley.

2  Beauty and the Beast crochet rose headband/necklace in CHALLENGE 36 ENTRIES by MaryAbbie on: March 01, 2009 08:48:02 AM
So one of my favorite songs - there's a link to it at the bottom of the page -  is from a little known Broadway musical called Beauty and the Beast and one of my favorite motifs (if you will) is the pink rose. So I made a giant one (It's about 6 or 7 feet long)!

I figured out how to make a really neat looking necklace with it.

And I also took inspiration from a Forever 21 headband I saw my friend wearing a while ago and wrapped it around my head a couple of times. =]

Here is my song. It's called "Is This Home" from Beauty and the Beast.
And here's a video of Ashley Brown singing it.

3  Slouchy, lacey hat- my first with no pattern! in Crochet: Completed Projects by MaryAbbie on: October 21, 2008 06:14:27 PM
So this is my first hat pattern I've made without a pattern.

Ignore my abnormally large head >.>

And here's a close up of my lousy crocheting. (I am supposed to be writing a paper... Lips sealed)

C & C welcome!

5  Re: Mini Top Hats & Crowns w/ Tute! ( VERY VERY pic heavy) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by MaryAbbie on: September 07, 2008 02:50:32 PM
I just finished this and it took me all day because hot glue hates me.

And those white spots one the black part are there because I'm impatient like that. But those are little clear beads. Which still give me nightmares from the time I had to glue a bunch of those on 10 umbrellas. Oy.

7  An autograph dog to show your senority. =] in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by MaryAbbie on: August 26, 2008 07:51:56 PM
So for school the juniors have to make an autograph dog for a senior or two.
And they even gave us a pattern with hard to follow instructions.
And I just finished my babies and wanted to show people. ^.^

Before they were stuffed. My friend made one out of a light blue towel fabric and I made my two out the blue fabric and the black fabric. The black fabric has white chinese symbols on it because the girl I have like the whole Asian culture.

These are mien when they were stuffed. And I ironed on some flowers, a cupcake, and birds on them. ^.^

OH and ignore my shiny face and messy hair. I went to school. That is my excuse.

And I think I'm going to make a tutorial for the girls who have trouble understanding the instructions.

1. Don't make ears out of felt.
2. Jewels don't like to stick.
3. It's always more fun with a friend around.

9  Skully Halter Dress in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by MaryAbbie on: July 29, 2008 04:25:02 PM
I just finished my niece's halter dress!
Here are the pictures.

It was tube top dress, it wouldn't stay up.
So I changed it around a bit.

Again, it's hand sewn.
She didn't want to put it on again after I changed it up.
Bad pictures.
I'll make her wear it one day.

Thanks for looking!

EDIT: made from tutorials from http://www.smarmyclothes.com/

10  White Simplicity 2991 Dress *now with model shots* in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by MaryAbbie on: July 27, 2008 06:31:25 PM
This is my first finished sewing project I finished!
Ok, not really. I've previously made 2 skirts that I vehemently refuse to hem.  Wink

So this is hand sewn for my niece. It's white because my mom wants to take pictures on the beach at sunset in white clothes.  Roll Eyes Go figure.

But anyway this is it. It's not pressed yet, by the way.

This is the "angel" that will wear it. XD She's wearing it there, but it wasn't finished yet.

Things I've learned while making this dress:
1. Don't let the five-year-old sharpen the needle while you're holding the sharpener.

2. It was Mustad, in the study, with the revolver.

3. Hemming is about as fun as giving a lion a bath.

4. I need a sewing machine.

5. Simplcity's zipper guide= not so simple.   Undecided
