Might want to try wearing it a little to make sure the hot glue holds?  Maybe just lightly tack the top of the ribbon at the sides?

that's a good idea! I'll even do a little jig while I'm in it to make sure it sticks! Smiley

This is SOO awesome, question though. Did the skirt part start out as a two square pieces that you pleated, or did you initially cut the pieces as a-line?

haha thanks to all your wonderful comments, it's unfortunate that my camera sucks and makes my dress look green.. though I s'pose is does have a hint of green in it! I'll definitely post some better day-lit pictures when I get them
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / So, I guess I've got a prom dress. on: June 09, 2008 07:32:56 PM
So here's my prom dress, I decided to make my dress ages ago and started on it in early may, or sometime around then.

I took on the adventure without a pattern, and having never sewn on silk before. Which could have went over horrible, but managed alright.

Prom is on the 24th, so I don't have any serious action shots, but I might be able to post some after the event! So here goes.

So I had to get crafty with the ribbon around my waist, as I just couldn't figure out a method to get it to stay without slipping down. Eventually I just took the glue gun to it, and it seems to be working just fine! Also, the hem is a rolled hem, which turned out fairly well, but looks a little sketchy at some points; I'm hoping it'll be dark and no one will notice.

I did eventually have to add straps.. thanks to a lack of support and the constant falling down of my dress. Also! I'll get some closer specs at some point.

of course, showing my toilet and dirty mirror were not my intentions, but having seen my washroom, I think that makes us all a little closer.

and the SHOES! of course, the shoes!

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Scrap dress on: February 18, 2008 09:06:09 AM
So I had some random scraps lying around a few years ago, and decided to get crafty with this dress

The only picture i managed to get of it was last week, so I finally got around to posting.

Basically the dress is 8 vertical pieces, all sections of what would be a one-piece circle skirt dress.

8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Ready for St. Paddy's Day. on: February 18, 2008 08:54:16 AM
It's prettty much been a few years since I've actually posted anything on craftster, and so here's my first new addition.

I picked it up from old navy, just a plain mens size S t-shirt, and decided it needed some work before being St. Paddy's Day worthy.

9  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Is it truly as erotic as advertised? Why yes, it is. on: May 19, 2006 07:14:32 PM
I haven't posted anything on craftster lately..and by lately I mean in about a year and a half. However, what with my new handy dandy phone(not so dandy, or so handy) I took some pictures of my newly stenciled dinosaur shirt.

It's rather amazing, and it's a slight inside joke but still..amazing.

Anyways.. this is not my first stencil, but it the only one I've done that's really worth posting, or even wearing for that matter.

It's also rather hard to photgraph anything with a camera phone, so bear with the shitty pictures please.

This would be the phrase:

And this is the amazing dinosaur:

Oh and I printed the stencil onto an acetate sheet let it dry and started exacto-knifing. I used airbrush paints and a permanent marker. In order to get all the teeny pieces of acetate stuck onto the shirt I used spray adhesive.

Also, I took the dinosaur and phrase from the comic qwantz.. visit it at http://www.qwantz.com .

10  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Re: $1 shoes + paint= HAPPY ME!! on: April 23, 2006 05:11:05 PM
And where did you get those to begin with?

I've been looking for white ones to paint, but if I had 1$ black ones, that would OWN.
