1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / 2 weeks of nonstop sewing for this monster dress on: March 28, 2011 10:56:15 AM
so i am currently a freshman in college, and had to apply this semester to get accepted into the fashion design program at my school. it is super competitive (of about 100 applicants, they take 38), so to make myself stand out, i decided to make a crazy dress to go with my portfolio. i designed this dress and bought the fabric months ago, but about 2 weeks before my portfolio was due, i hadnt even started on the dress! so luckily i ended up being stuck in my dorm room for a week because of snow so i used that time to crank out this dress! i drafted the pattern, and sewed the whole thing myself. each of those ruffles was hemmed by hem, which is what took the longest but i am happy i took the time to do that because it looks perfect up close. anyways, here it is. and it did get me accepted into the fashion design program Smiley!

2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Set of 5 Little Bags on: March 28, 2011 10:25:29 AM
I made this little set of 5 bags for a project for a design class i am taking. i had so much fun making them! i wish i could have used a better lining, but i made them all the night before they were due and couldn't get to a fabric store. but they are all still really cute! i used a tutorial for one of them i think, and i just made up the rest as i went.

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / I have an addiction.... on: December 30, 2008 12:37:36 PM
So i made one of these totebags for something to do, but now i'm hooked. over the last 2 weeks or so i have made....13. they are really cute, fun to make, and are veryy addicting. here are 2 i made for some friends for christmas;

This one is for my friend and she loves tote bags. like, she always talks about finding new ones, and she loves purple, so i made this for her;

heres a close up of the fabric [didnt realize it was blury until i already gave it to her];

I love this bag. So my other friend is obessed with singing, chior, music, piano, ect. so i saw this fabric and fell in love. my favorite part is how if you look at it from far away, it just looks like a normal black and white printed fabric. but up close, you can see the music notes;

heres a close up;

i'll post some more that i have made when ever i take some pictures
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Looking for Pattern... on: November 28, 2008 08:25:41 PM
ok, i have a new obession. i'm not sure what they are called, but they are a cross between knitted slippers/socks/boots. i love them, and really want to make them. there are several different styles, but 2 i really like. here are some of each kind;

1st kind (more sockish);

2nd kind (more bootish);

for both of these, they look you could make them are a sock pattern, and just use thicker yarn, but i'm not sure how you would add the bottom part (like, the harder part). and i've never made socks before, so i'm not sure if i could just make my own pattern. or maybe there already is a pattern for these somewhere...thank you
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Dress Form Advice on: September 11, 2008 08:01:46 PM
hi everyone. i've been interested in buying a dress form for a long time now and really want to get one. the problem is im only 16, so i don't have tons of money to spend. i know wolf are the best, but those are way too much for me. the only kind i don't want is one with the adjustable parts (like at jo annes, ones like those...). also, should i order a size up from my normal size? because i'm normal a size 2/4, but i'm thinking i should get a size 6 since i probably will grow still and i want this to last. oh, but the probably with a size 6...even 4 is that the bust part will be a few inches bigger than i am.....thanks guys for your help!
