1  Re: Magic Yarn Ball Round 14 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by shortern on: December 15, 2010 04:46:16 PM
Shortern is having camera issues, so here's a shot I took before wrapping
her yarn ball  (Erin, plmk if this is the right pic!  LOL)

Thanks so much for posting this picture! I can't find my camera cord anywhere!

I LOVED this magic yarn ball! It was so much fun to unwrap, and the yarn is so, SO soft. The brown color is really nice and the pattern she gave me (for a cardigan) goes perfectly with a bunch of the dresses I plan to wear it with.

I love the sheep amigurami! He's so cute and now he sits on my bedside table with my knitting needle holder. The bookmark is currently in my latest book and I can't wait to knit the mitten keychain (which is SO cool, btw!).

I love everything! Thanks so much for the awesome myb kayrun!

2  Re: I Heart Headbands! Swap in The Swap Gallery by shortern on: September 28, 2010 11:21:08 AM
Sorry, for the crappy quality of the photos, I had to use my webcam because my regular camera is MIA at the moment!

Also, I'm a TOTAL airhead and forgot to write down who sent which headband, so feel free to message me/claim which one you sent, and I'll fix my post!

Super pretty, and I love the blue color and the print! This matches almost EVERYTHING I own, so it's perfect!

So fun and feathery! I love the colors! From Chelsea K!

This also matches almost everything in my wardrobe! I love the stitching on the fabric pattern and the pretty fleur-de-lis! From hgddm!

This one is so pretty and simple and the colors go really nicely with my hair color!

Totally fun and funky! I gotta find something awesome to match this one!

Another fun and funky one! These are my two favorite colors!

SO awesome and over the top! Completely glam and sexy! From CleanFeelin!

Thanks for an awesome swap, ladies! I can't wait to do it again!

I received from mpemporium a few days ago, but haven't been able to post pictures (I left my camera at a friend's house and just got it back today!). I LOVED the package! It was awesome and so much fun to open!

First off, my FAVORITE English cookie, Jammie Dodgers, and some delicious tea (we have Twinings here too, but the English box is so much more interesting, my box of Twinings is just a plain yellow Sad ).

Next, some very pretty English yarn (squeeee!) and some socks with the Union Jack on them!

I was super excited just for this little pouch, which I'm using for change right now, but when I opened it up, there was the coolest jewelry I've ever seen!!

Sorry for the terrible pictures (I'm not so good at close-up pictures), but here's some closeups of the jewelry! The necklace is a little suit of armor, and the earrings are dragons!

She also sent some local maps and brochures which I totally forgot to take a picture of, but I had so much fun reading them! One of them is for Kent, England, and I live in Kent, Ohio!

Thank you so much mpemporium for the awesome swap package! I love everything, and yours is going out first thing tomorrow!!!

4  Re: Little Odd Ball Yarn Swap R4 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by shortern on: March 10, 2010 05:16:37 PM
I'm all sent out, and all received, so here are my little odd balls!

from glambastard:

I love the purple, and the blue not pictured, which I had already unraveled before taking the picture (it's the same as the dark blue in the washcloth behind it...which has already found a home in the shower :] )

from tcha345:

I LOVE the green color (which is actually more like kelly green irl, my camera just sucks)!

Thanks so much you guys! I hope you enjoy yours too!

Here's the pictures of my myb from ohiodiygirl!

Here's everything still in the box, as soon as I opened it:

It might be kind of hard to tell, but the myb was huuuuge, like as big as my head!

The yarn, after it was all unwrapped. I love the color! It reminds me of mermaids (it's mostly blue but with a little purple, red, and green in it)

Some extra yarns in the box! I looove the color of the Malabrigo (plus it's my fave type of yarn!).

Some of the goodies inside:

Not pictured is a bunch of candy, which my roommate has already snuck into, and a whole boatload of those little finger puppets, which I've started placing around the apartment to surprise my roommate when she opens the fridge, cabinents, etc! And there's a bunch more of the crocheted flowers, which are so cute :] The yarn in the back is CASHMERE! Ooooh! Idk what I'm going to do with it yet, but I LOVE it!

Some growable dinosaurs!

One is already growing in a cup by my window!

I looooooooove these necklaces! ohiodiygirl was inspired by some things on my wist, and made me these necklaces and earrings!

A close-up of the dino earrings (I think they glow in the dark?)

Some cool vintage buttons (that I absolutely need, because I have no spare buttons Sad )

She's sooo cute and she sits on my bed now with my other two stuffed dinos!

I love everything! Thank you so much ohiodiygirl!!!

Sorry this is so late! I received from Casey1201 a looong time ago, but my package was sent to school (where I wanted it to be sent) and I thought I'd be home in time to get it when it first arrived, but my parents wanted me to stay home for 2 more weeks, so I obliged them.

Any hoo, I ripped the package open as soon as I got in the door and I LOOOOVE it!

She claimed me for a holder for my knitting needles:

Here's a pic of the whole thing:

A close up of the fabric (I love the color, and it actually matches my spare quilt that I have at the end of my bed!):

With most of my needles in it:

A close up of the needles/fabric (the photo is a lot more yellow than in real life):

She even included those purple ones in the foreground (size 5 which is perfect because I don't have any 5's!

And she included some extras:

A magic yarn ball tied up in some pretty fabric:

And some ATC's that are now attached to my weekly calendar dry erase board:

Thanks again Casey! I love everything, and sorry it took so long to post!

7  Re: Autumn's Fall Scarf Swap GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by shortern on: October 17, 2009 11:14:41 AM
Hey everyone! Sorry it took me soooo long to post pictures (it's been a hectic week at work Sad )

I received my package from 1boy1girl1kitty2, and I LOVE it! The scarves are beautiful, and I love the smalls, so without further ado, pictures!

This was the first scarf I pulled from the package, and it's adorable, I love it so much! The colors are so pretty (sorry, my camera is terrible, so they don't show like they do in real life). And it's made out of the softest bamboo yarn ever.

Here's a close up of the scarf. I'm so excited because I can't crochet, but I've wanted a granny square scarf forever!

The second scarf. Again, I love the colors, and it's so soft :] My boyfriend is jealous of this one, because he likes the colors and the feel!

And the third scarf (I was not expecting 3 beautiful scarves, 1boy1girl1kitty2 really outdid herself!) I love the waviness, and the colors are a pretty deep blue and green. It reminds me of the ocean Smiley

I wish my camera was better, because these pictures really don't do the scarves justice. I love them all!

And some extra goodies! The silver one is a candle, butter caramel scented, and not pictured is a vanilla one (which my roommate commandeered for our living room. It made the whole room smell great!). The white one is some yummy smelling pumpkin body butter. And lastly, there are 3 tubes of chapstick. She must have read my mind because chapstick is my favorite thing EVER. There are a pumpkin flavor, a cocoa caramel flavor, and (not pictured because it quickly made its way to my pocket) a vanilla flavor!

Thank you SO much 1boy1girl1kitty2! I love my package so much, and I'm sorry I took so long to post pictures! And it's a perfect time to wear my new scarves because it's getting really cold here!

8  I went a bit hat insane! [Pic heavy!] in Knitting: Completed Projects by shortern on: August 24, 2009 08:33:54 PM
I've been making hats like crazy for the past 2 weeks (preparing for fall!). Plus, they're awesome stash busters, and totally fun to knit :]

Here are all the ones I've made! I think the mint one is my favorite.

I like adding ribbons to hats, can't ya tell? I think they look pretty cute, considering I used no pattern! Thanks for looking :]

9  Re: Fiber Friday 05.22.09!!!! in Spinning: Completed Projects by shortern on: May 22, 2009 07:57:33 AM
I love the red one!

I finally have something new to share! I spun these about two weeks ago, but since then I've been stuck in the middle of a move.

Summer Day:
Spun from a BL with bits of bamboo, soy silk, and sari silk. 25 1/5 yards

Super Crazy Explosion of Fun!:
Spun from several mini batts including bamboo, soy silk, and merino wool. I haven't got the yardage yet (have to do that this afternoon!)

Not Named Yet:
Spun from a Wensleydale roving, yardage unknown yet! This was my absolute favorite thing to spin, and it's the most even yarn I've spun yet!

Teeny Tiny Little Thing (haha, this one doesn't really need a name):
Spun from the most beautiful green batts ever! I had a lot of trouble with this one because I had never spun from a batt before, but picked the most complicated one I had ordered to start with! Yardage unknown, probably not more than 10 yards though!

Have a good weekend everyone! I'm going to a fiber festival tomorrow!

10  Re: Fiber Friday 4/24/09 in Spinning: Completed Projects by shortern on: April 25, 2009 11:00:55 AM
I finally have something to show in Fiber Friday!

This is my 4th try at spinning, and I'm so proud of it! It's the most even yarn I've spun, and the most I've managed to get onto my drop spindle! I'm not sure what wool it is, and it doesn't have a name yet, but it's 51 yards! I think I'm going to give it away on my blog :]

This is my 5th try at spinning and it didn't come out as nicely as the one above Sad But I was still pretty happy with it! I overspun this one a lot (not on purpose) so it's really twisted in some places, and is only 42 yards. It's made from merino wool, and, again, has no name!

And I went on a bit of a batt buying binge (say that 5 times fast!) this week, so I should have lots more yarn to show this week!
