1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: my homecoming dress/life's work. on: September 08, 2008 02:12:57 PM
so i revamped the clutch a little, i thought it was pretty plain.

and here's a closer closeup as requested:

thanks to everyone who had nice things to say! Cheesy
i'm so excited to wear it and i just got some silver pumps and a necklace to wear with it. i'm gonna put up pictures when i actually do go to homecoming.
keep letting me know what you think Wink
(i plan on hinting my boyfriend to put feathers in my corsage- i'm putting them in his boutenniere (sp?) for sure. Wink how exciting this is.)
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / my homecoming dress/life's work.(NEW PICTURES ADDED!) on: September 02, 2008 06:08:17 PM
i had a plain black strapless dress chillin on the back of my closet door for a long time.
i wore it to a dinner party i had and my friends loved it, so i decided to dress it up a little bit and wear it to homecoming.
i started about two weeks ago, worked feverishly, and now, here's my finished project:

i put a bow on the back

beads and sequins and peacock feathers, my absolute favorite.

and then i decided to make a clutch to go with it since i was still all hyped up on the finishing of this monumental thing for me.
i love it Smiley i can't wait to wear it.
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / painted tote on: August 12, 2008 04:28:58 AM
i made this tote bag for a creative writing summer program i went to, because i didn't want to try to carry notebooks and such around in my purse.

a picture of me wearing it in my jammies Tongue

the lining had russian nesting doll print on the inside which i thought was absolutely adorable. i thought i kinda screwed up on the construction but once it was painted and all, it looked nice.
with the leftover i made this cosmetics bag, which i actually like a bit more Smiley heheh

whaddaya think?!

5  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / GIANT cinnamon roll?! on: August 11, 2008 08:52:35 AM
next week is my friend ashly's birthday, and we are currently in the midst of band camp.
i'm definitely going to make her a cake, but she doesn't like cake.
she does however love cinnamon rolls, and we have a really great inside joke about GIANT cinnamon rolls.
so i want to make her a giant, birthday cake sized cinnamon roll.
i didn't know if i can use a regular cinnamon roll recipe and just make all the dough into one big roll.
any tips? i'd most certainly appreciate it  Wink

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / applying feathers to fabric?? on: August 10, 2008 11:18:43 AM
i have this black strapless dress with a plain banded waist, so for homecoming i was planning to sew silver satin over the band and embellish it with peacock feathers and sequins (i LOVE peacock feathers. i put them in my hair for the last formal).
does anyone know how exactly i could apply the feathers onto the satin?
glue? sewing? can you even sew feathers? help! Smiley
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: new hat! fake isle from magknits! woot! on: August 07, 2008 08:40:36 AM
they had a finished product exactly like yours at my local yarn store (which is no more Sad RIP.) and i made one for my boyfriend at the time and added earflaps.
it was a pretty wicked hat.
now i made another one for myself in green and dark gray that i'm probably gonna post pretty soon (i'm still kind of a n00b so i can't post pictures yet :x)
it is lovely!
