1  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / Natural inks? on: January 18, 2013 04:57:19 AM
I am looking at making some natural screen printing inks and I was just wondering if anybody had any tips or knew of any books or sources of information on it?
So far I have used red cabbage dye, onion skin dye and coffee dye thickened with indalca powder, with cream of tartar and alum as mordants, but I want to know more on how to make sure the inks will be colourfast and lightfast (the first 2 washed out, when I put them on a low wash).
Any help would be really appreciated!!

4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Organise me swap! Galleryyy on: January 21, 2010 10:24:18 AM
Gallery for organise me swap, yey for sending and receiving Cheesy
5  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Organise Me Swap! Closed! Send-outs 3rd Feb! on: December 05, 2009 05:44:03 AM
Hiya! This great swap idea was thought up by kaz814, so thanks! Grin

If you think I have done anything wrong, missed anything, or need to add some questions etc, just let me know, this is my first time as swap organiser!
Anyway, this is the swap purpose!

Piles of crafting supplies, important booklets and patterns buried way-back there, another cupboard that just wont close! Sound familiar?? Then you, my craftster friend, need organising! So, this is where the swap helps! No, unfortunately, your partner won't visit you and organise everything for you, BUT they will send stuff to make you organised! Holders, containers, notebooks, folders, labels, boxes, to do lists, desk supplies, magnets, bags, the list goes on!

And you, in return get to organise your partner for them, which to me is way more fun than trying to figure out how to organise yourself!
If they also use the space for something else, like school work, eating (kitchen table), then you can help make them things so it is easier to separate craft from the rest, etc!

Now, details!
I have decided to separate into two groups, hopefully, if it works out! Those who would prefer to work in points, which for this swap will be 6 points. But if you prefer to work in size, then it will be one large, one medium and one small! Though this can be changed in your pair, if you prefer, as long as you discuss it with each other of course!
Her is how these are worked out, if you are usure!
By Time
-Large = 3 or more hours
-Medium = 2 or more hours
-Small = 2 or less hours

By Size
-Large = A shawl, a shirt, a skirt, a set of jewelry with four to five items, a purse
-Medium = one single necklace or bracelet, a scarf
-Small = Earrings, stickers, wallets, pouches, bookmarks

By Price
-Large = $30 or more
-Medium = $10-$30 dollars
-Small = $10 or less

For points, each small item, as defined above, works out as one point, medium as 2, large as 3!

Any queries about this, or if something is wrong, just let me know, please!

Also, please remember to keep in regular contact, on the thread, and with your partner!

7  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / help me draw!! please ;D on: July 10, 2009 01:38:25 PM
i study art textiles (and some other stuff!) at college.
Im not that great at drawing, at all actually, but i really want to get better! So i was just wondering how to do this?
I know when my drawing is bad, i think, but i can never tell just whats wrong with it!
So if anyone has any advice tha would be great!
Id love to be able to draw, because i do loads of craft stuff, but it seems drawing is always needed, especially if i wanted to do  a course at uni.
We havent needed to draw yet at college, but it would come in useful still, and id just love to be able to do it!
Ok, rambling over, help would be appreciated! Thanks!
8  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Where can i get a rainbow?????!! on: June 29, 2009 07:24:22 AM
Hiya Grin
ive started making paper - so far I made some pretty ones at college. lotsa different types
And then at home Ive used scrap paper (you know, letters etc), then i tried magazines for another, but it came out quite greyish.
So my question is - do you know where i can get colourful paper to shred, or something to make the paper pulp a pretty colour? Ive seen some packs of coloured paper, but theyre kinda expensive, n i feel silly paying all that money, then to shred the paper up, and remake paper! I havent spent any money on the equipment either, so Im trying to do this all cheaply!
Im in the uk, btw
Sorry if this is in the wrong topic
hope someone can help!
9  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Mexican picnic food - ideas???? on: November 01, 2008 12:02:05 PM
Hi  Smiley
so, i know there have been a few threads for suggestions of food/recipes to take to lunch. But.... i go to college each day (taking my own lunch), and love mexican food. So i was wondering if anyone had ideas of mexican food that tastes ok cold, and doesnt take up loads of room/need to be taken in lots of boxes!
just something that would fit in one small tub.
any ideas?HuhHuh?
10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Making something to store my craftstuff in?! Help!!!!!! on: August 25, 2008 11:10:20 AM
Sorry if this in under the wrong topic, i wasnt sure where to put it, and i couldnt find another post where people have talked about this.

Anyway, i was thinking - I need something to store all my craft stuff in (fabric, knitting, beads, threads, crochet, and about a billion other things!).I was thinking maybe medium sized cardboard box size. But i wasnt really sure what to make, using what sort of stuff to use etc. I would like something that looks neat in my room, and is easy to use and move about, and with a lid to stop my dog stealing things!

So has anyone made anything like this themselves, and would be willing to give mesome ideas or maybe show pictures of your own creations?
