21  Re: Firefly/Serenity round 8 gallery! in The Swap Gallery by tiltcreations on: October 22, 2008 06:16:05 PM
And since my partner is currently batteryless - she gave me the go ahead to post some pics of the swapiness I sent her...I took a ton of pics & if you are interested in seeing all of them - the flickr page link will be at the end.

Handpainted pillow - the back didn't turn out so hot - it's a Jayne hat colored stripped fleece button tab

scrapbook - my very first, so it even has fun wiggly glue related texture on each page  Grin
and yes, I am anal enough that there is a pic of each page on flickr...hey, I won't ever see it again - I had to take 'em.

Kaylee's box - modeled after her door sign...and each side is done up too....and for some reason Kaylee was carrying around 2 of Wash's dinos - go figure  Cheesy

I knew popculturerecycled wanted a Jayne hat, but alas, I cannot knit...so she got a sewn fleece one instead (it's sitting on a stuffed rhino here)

and lastly - the triptych - quotes from theme song are on each.
And I have to thank her (and the swap mistress for starting all this) because it has gotten me painting again - it's been almost a decade.

WOO HOO!!! I just got package 1 of 3! on the same day I got my first non-family etsy sale and holiday goodies from another etsy buddy  Grin

so..here goes...

lovely cards - fruity oaty bars, miranda, and a wanted poster...supposedly there is a story that goes with it which she will tell me after everything else arrives.

and my wonderful and fun rainstick! Jayne was wrong - a wife isn't better...well, I do have a pretty full kitchen sink...but I don't think a crafted Mrs Reynolds would do the trick  Tongue Too bad this doesn't have audio - sounds way cool.

oh - and the jayne hat detailing tied up in the leather strapping...

And that was only 1 of 3!!
also - the rainstick was wrapped for protection in an Evil Dead tee - which I love! does my partner have great taste or what!?!

Ok - I have a couple teasers for my partner...ready popculturerecycled?

OK, you can tell what that one was...but how it's used is the question.

hee hee  Cheesy

Off to do some more...

24  Re: Autumn/Winter Coat anyone? in Clothing Sewalongs by tiltcreations on: October 06, 2008 05:44:15 AM
I found a couple patterns that I am going to pull a Frankenstein on...
The collar and sleeves of 3562 D (middle pic), front of 4403A (bottom right pic) and back of 3562 A/B (not seen, it's princess with a button tab across the lower back). I am not sure on the length - I only know it will cover my butt (so I don't get a chilled tooshy when I sit this winter  Grin)
Can't decide on side button tabs (4403A) - I am a larger size & not sure if they will just accentuate my non-waist).

Pattern 4403

Pattern 3562

25  python top in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by tiltcreations on: September 08, 2008 08:19:14 AM
Hi - long time sewer, first time poster on clothing  Grin

Just wanted to join in & share my first clothing item made on my dress form...and the first clothes that fit right away!!!
I used some scrap python print cotton fabric - wasn't sure how it'd end up - so it was kind of a test - but it fits - so I'm wearing it! animal print so not me, but I don't care!

My "doh!" moment: grabbed the wrong pen to mark buttonholes...so there's permanent red ink on my top...you can see it a little here...(any closer was too blurry)

26  Re: Swap a Yard of Fabric September in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by tiltcreations on: September 05, 2008 03:49:47 PM
Wow...a whole 3 of us  Huh

I'll start...
I claim 1y of the thick red poly/cotton

here's mine:
#1: raspberry silky sheer 1y

#2: natural color gauzy linen - kinda see-through (silouette sheer) up to 2 1/2y

#3: cotton holly print 1/2y

#4: "monkey" fur - silky feel, curly strands, gets everywhere but looks cute 1 1/2y

#5: sheer white with blue dots and silver sparkles (not easy to see in pic) 1/2y

#6: Black ?fabric unknow - soft feel, drapes well, has "burned out" holes - great for Zombie making! 1 1/2y (pen shown for size reference)

#7: Blue marine vinyl 1/4y (I have just under 1/2y > 17" actually, if you want it all)

27  Re: Swap a Yard of Fabric August/September in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by tiltcreations on: August 26, 2008 04:38:48 AM
mmmmm - circles...
My stuff was received so I get to go again - woo hoo!
I'll take the orange polka dots - just short of a yard .... I am assuming it's close enough to still be considered a full claim (if not - the green/red FQ looks nice  Grin)

Here's my stuff...
#1 Iridescent spiders on sheer black - kinda stiff - 1y

#2 Black burn out ... poly blend is my best guess 1y
<pen is there for size comparison>

#3 Sheer with silver sparkles (can't see in pic real well) and blue dots 1/2y
<sorry it's not ironed, had to be quick & take the pic while I had light>

#4 Raspberry shiny slippery sheer - not too flimsy though - 1y
<pic shows one layer on right and multiple on left>

#5 Poly blend blue floral - suedecloth - up to 2y

#6 Christmas time! holly & berries - cotton, novelty weight - 1/2y

#7 Brown fur...the threads have a silky feel & shiny look - up to 1 1/4y
***warning: you will get the stuff all over when cutting and such - but it looks great in the end <<I used it for a monkey costume - it was adorable>>

29  Re: Bag/purse with hidden/covered zipper ends? in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions by tiltcreations on: August 24, 2008 07:21:45 PM
Is this the way you do or don't want it to look? or neither Grin

if that is what you mean - try this blog...
or if not...try this:
the shape is triangular - but the zipper part may be what you are looking for

hope it helps

30  Re: looking for a pattern/tutorial in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions by tiltcreations on: August 24, 2008 06:58:39 PM
"Bend the Rules" book has some good ones...
but if you are looking for online - the tutorial list here must have one...
this is one I use if you want to try...just using the bottom half on your pattern should work - it's simply a dart...I put a thumbnail of what the finished bag looks like for reference (although in the pic the bottom got pushed in a bit)- hope it helps.
