1  Nothing says summer like fruit salad... in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by cowgirl on: May 22, 2006 07:56:24 PM
...on my skirt!

I made the waistband out of my sister's old sweatpants, but the fruit material is stretchy t-shirt type stuff I got on sale. It has little buttons on the side because my mom and I accidently sewed part of it inside out. Whoops!

2  For the Love of Cupcakes (and ice cream!) in Needlework: Completed Projects by cowgirl on: March 27, 2006 10:46:30 AM
For a few months, my embroidering was on hold. But then I picked it up again after being re-inspired here on Craftster! It was almost Valentine's Day when I drew the pattern (although I didn't stitch it up until about 2 weeks ago), but who cares that it's too late for Valentine's Day...my love of cupcakes in year round!

It took me a long time because of all the satin stitching, and some of the hearts are crooked, but what do you think?

About a week ago when I finished the cupcake, I needed something to do, so in one evening with a heck of a lot less work than the cupcake, I drew and stitched up a cute little ice cream cone!

Please excuse the not-so-great quality of pictures...it's my first time using the new scanner. Comments (on the embroidery, not the scanning job  Wink)?

3  Re: As Is OR Modified Aunt Martha Stitchalong in Needlework: Stitchalongs by cowgirl on: March 27, 2006 10:41:46 AM
Everyone's are so cute! I love the lambs, PinkyK!

Although I have already done my embroidery for this stitchalong...

...I have done another! I didn't alter the pattern in any way, because I just loved the kitschy owl as it was (and the name of the pattern...Hooty Owls).

Sorry for the poor quality, it's my first time using the new scanner.

What do you think?

4  What's pink, red, white and black all over? in Valentine's Day by cowgirl on: February 06, 2006 06:55:13 PM
My valentines book for my good family friend, of course! I decide to go beyond a simple valentine for her, as she's a crafter too. So I glued little Valetines day themed things to the pages of a board book. Here's what I came up with.

The cover which is a sillouhette of a girl thinking love thoughts  Smiley.

The 1st and 2nd pages which say "love letter" (I was missing an "s"...whoops) and "sealed with a kiss" and has a cut up envelope that's what else? Sealed with a kiss.

The 3rd and 4th pages which has a little scrap of paper that has instruction on how to use the love dust and a piece of a doily, and on the other page, the words "love dust" and a packet of glitter...I mean love dust.

The 5th and 6th pages which has a tissue paper backround, a huge Hersheys bar wrapper and says "mend a" and has a picture of a broken heart.

The 7th and 8th pages which has cards, polka dotted fabric and says, "take a gamble with love".

The 9th and 10th pages which say "For love or money?" and has hearts and fake money.

What do you think? Thanks for looking!

7  Re: "_____ in a box" gift ideas. in Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage by cowgirl on: December 05, 2005 04:41:32 PM
I did a "Ninja in a box" for my sister. Although I guess it is actually "out of the box". In it I put a shirt that says, "Have you noticed I'm a NINJA", a little plastic ninja that she "adopted" with information about it which says
Thank you for adopting a ninja!
You ninja has special needs and needs to be taken care of! Learn about it from the info below.
Name: Yoichiro Sakamoto
Sex: Male
Age: Old enough to be a very wise ninja. You do the math.
Weight: Light enough to be agile, but heavy enough to be strong.
Ninja move of choice: not telling
Likes: Being talked to, learning new ninja moves, birthday parties in which he gets to smack pinatas shaped as Samaires, travel, mystery
Dislikes: Being taken out of his bubble, light colors, being mistaken for just another plastic toy, having his window in his ninja room being scratched, having his ninja room fall over
Biggest wish: Getting to travel the world with a ninja loving companion
Biggest fear: Being left behind at security when traveling if they think ninjas are not trustworthy on airplanes
and also a Ninja Capult from Archie Mcphee. Excuse the unicorn card and figurines, she is also into unicorns.

I did mine! I think this was the fastest embroidery I've ever done-from start to finish it took me 2 days.
