1  Birds on the ceiling in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by rosiegarden on: October 24, 2009 03:59:44 PM
Inspired by this, I made seven different coloured paper cranes (which I had never made until tonight) and hung them from the ceiling above my desk with that invisible nylon thread. Simple, but beautiful Smiley

I like to blow on them and they all wiggle Cheesy

2  Tea and Sushi! in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by rosiegarden on: August 28, 2009 08:20:53 AM
Here are a couple of items I made for the Make-A-Friend Swap:

A cup of tea/pincushion

I just made up the pattern as I went along. Looking at it now I think maybe I should have increased on the last row of the cup to stop it curling over? Well I'll try again one day.

Sushi Lip-balm Cozies

I am very pleased with these. Crocheted sushi is cute but usually purposeless. Then I found these (yummy) lip balms that were perfect sushi shapes, and just crying out for cute cute cozies. Tasty Smiley

Package #2

I got...

(I need a haircut)

An apron! It's lovely and bright and frilly. And it's very long (or am I very short?) so I can wear it like a dress if I feel so inclined. Now I need to learn to cook Wink

A kit for making a skirt (the fabric is more red than orange, my camera has a very dazzling flash). The instructions are nice and simple and just what I need. I'm not very good at following instructions haha Cheesy

This really sweet pencil/pen thingy with music all over it. Perfect for when I go back to college next week.

There were also jelly babies (which are sadly no longer with us) and peppermint tea. I love peppermint tea, but I had to move it downstairs because it was making me sneeze, and I'll have to wait until hayfever season is over before I start drinking it again.

But oh well, I love everything here Smiley Very excited for package 3!

Package 1

I received this package last week but I was away all weekend, so I'm posting it here now! Better late than never Smiley

Here it is, all nicely wrapped up

Here is something that smells nice, soaps from Lush. The whole package smelled yummy.

This fudge is something edible and something local. My boyfriend was here when it arrived, so it didn't last long Tongue

My partner's favourite colours are black and blue like in this lovely necklace

Her favourite craft supply is fabric

This candle is something sentimental, and it's very beautiful

Her favourite fashion accessory is ribbon, which I am very pleased about! Cheesy

This little black bag is something that shows her style. My camera made it look a bit shiny...

One of her non-craft hobbies is reading, so she sent me this book

Her favourite animal (just like mine!) is a cat, although this kitty is also part mouse Wink

And she also sent me this lovely book as something made from paper

So thankyou very much sg1psychopath! I hope you love my package as much as I love yours Cheesy

5  Mermaid Black Apple Doll for diminishedsheep in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by rosiegarden on: May 21, 2009 11:07:12 AM
I made this doll for my partner in the Make Me A Doll Swap. It was a wonderful swap (if I say so myself, I did organise!) and I am really pleased about how she turned out.

I pinched the photos from diminishedsheep because I can't remember where I saved mine...

Her strawberry dress:

Her mermaid outfit:

And this is my favourite Wink

Just for anyone interested, I'm hopefully starting round two of the doll swap at the very beginning of June Smiley

Well I've been in such as flusterment about organising that I completely forgot that I would be receiving a package!
I'm currently waiting for a new bed to be delivered, and today my Dad came in and said 'Rosie there's a package here for you' and I didn't believe him because surely I would have noticed a double bed sitting in the hallway...
but then he told me who it was from and of course I remembered Cheesy

Anyway, here she is. I'm stumped for a name for her, help me?!

Her dress is so beautifully made, I am blown away Smiley

7  Flowers! (Contains digital, polaroids, photograms...pic heavy!) in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by rosiegarden on: May 10, 2009 11:37:07 AM
For my photography exam/coursework I chose to do a project on flowers.
To get the most marks, the idea is to use as many different processes as you can. Normally I'm very much a film photographer, digital just doesn't excite me like chemicals, haha.

The methods I covered are:
  • Digital
  • Fisheye lens
  • Polaroids
  • Expired polaroids
  • 35mm film in my Holga
  • Photograms
I'll update this post when I've developed my film and edited the last of my digital photos Smiley

Expired Polaroids:

For anyone who doesn't know, these are created with an enlarger (used to make prints from film negatives) in a darkroom. I arranged the flowers on photo paper (that absorbs light) and then exposed them to light. When put through the chemicals, this gives a silhouette effect.

This one I moved one flower around to make it look like it was moving, as if to face the sun:

This one was some chemicals brushed onto paper, then I put the flower on it and left it in the sun for five minutes:

These are the same flowers as above but a week after, it's supposed to represent time:

These photos really don't do justice to the lovely little coin purse I got!

It's the Very Hungry Caterpillar! Aaaah!

She went with my 'fruit' and 'lemon' theme (the lining is yellow).
Oop I'm very pleased Smiley

Thanks Radioactivecrafter Cheesy

9  My new Black Apple doll :) in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by rosiegarden on: April 06, 2009 02:05:34 PM
This is my latest Black Apple doll, Annie.
I love this pattern, it's so simple!
I still managed to make a bit of a mess with it though. I don't normally use the sewing machine for dolls, but I did with her and I accidentally stitched her hand to her hip, and she looked a bit like a teapot!

She has an embroidered face, black felt hair and a purple flowery dress. She also has red underwears Wink

I made her because I was inspired by the talk in the Make Me A Doll Swap I'm organising. I still need a few more people before sign ups close tomorrow if anyone's interested!

Yay I received my package from Junior_Mint! I love it so much Cheesy

It's a cute kitty (going in my collection) and the CUTEST pear with a happy little face! Aww! I love his eyes too.

I also got a pretty pink pouch with stitch markers and eyes, although I'm not sure how the eyes work...

Wheee thankyou Junior_Mint! It's a lovely package Smiley And I can't wait for you to get mine Cheesy
