23  Valentine's Day Subway Art in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by NiinaMaria on: January 21, 2011 09:29:21 AM
I've been wanting to do a freebie for my blog for a quite some time. My original plan was to do something for Halloween but I missed it. Then I decided Christmas would be good, again I missed it. Last weekend I finally got my act together and I designed a poster for Valentine's Day. I did it in subway art style and I'm quite pleased with it. It took almost a day to do. I kept changing the wording and the fonts over and over again to get a logical (?) looking order. Comments and criticisms are welcome. (BTW, I know I'm totally jumping in the bandwagon)...

And NiinaMaria, that blue cat is so furry, I want to squeeze him.  Is it meant to be reminiscent of the Cheshire cat?  Because it totally reminds me of him Smiley

It wasn't inspired by Cheshire cat but as I was stitching away I started to see the resemblance. The original inspiration came from the Scandinavian Stitching- book.

I love it so much! I haven't found a place for it yet, so right now it's hanging from my notice board.

30  Papercut Spooky Village Silhouette in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by NiinaMaria on: October 26, 2010 08:36:21 AM

This year is the first time I'm "decorating" for Halloween. It's not really celebrated here yet but we're getting there. Slowly. Anyway, my decoration efforts were focused on my bookshelf. I made a small scene for each of the compartments and this village is one of those scenes.

To make this, I freehanded the village on A2 cardstock and cut it with a craft knife. Since the width of the paper wasn't enough to span the shelf's entire length, I cut and drew two separate streets. The picture above is showing one of them.

Here are more shots...

Comments and C&C are welcome!

P.S. I want a Silhouette- machine.
