1  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Attaching photos. Which material is best? on: August 25, 2010 10:26:19 AM
I hope this is a challenge  Grin
I have something in mind, i want to make brooches, something like this model:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

As you can see there is a photo that is attached to a material.
The only problem is that i cannot decide. Should the base material be polymer clay or ceramics? Would there be any difference? And which method is the best to glue a piece of paper from a material without having air bubbles under it?
2  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Going mad...and translucent also! on: August 04, 2009 01:37:45 PM
Well, i've tried making a bracelet, everything was fine...Untill i discovered that the translucent part didn't seem to be quite transparent as i thought it would be. I always use fimo soft and this one (translucent clay) is the only one i can find on the market.
There is a technique there somewhere that i haven't discovered yet.
At first i wanted to obtain an effect like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/marsdesign-marcia/3038769582/in/photostream/

The result wasn't quite what i expected:

I thought that the trick is to make real thin slices. I only have a pasta machine, and after i put them in the pasta machine, they look a bit distorted. If i set it at the thickest setting, the slices become huge and i cannot use them.

Where do i go wrong?
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Discussion and Questions / Peyote buttons? Where? on: June 20, 2009 12:45:13 PM
Does anybody know a tutorial or what technique is used to make these buttons?

Pretty please!
4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Discussion and Questions / Perfect online store? on: January 13, 2009 09:16:34 AM
I've recently discovered fusionbeads.com and i was shocked by how many products they have.
I live in Romania and unfortunately the romanian online shops have only a dozen of products, and most of them are quite normal: chains, beads, pendants (the pendants are not pretty), charms, most of these (except the beads Cheesy) are made of cheap metal. That is why when i saw the silver charms and the pendants that are on fusionbeads, i just said that i had to get them. But, the don't make shipping in my country. Which is why i'm asking your help.
I'm looking for an online store that has a lot, i mean a lot of charms and pendants (i would prefer they are made of silver), chains and pendants where you can put a photo, hinges and all kinds of stamps. It's really important that it has international shipping, otherwise i'll just have to drool at those beautiful thingies  Cry more like, another fusionbeads but with shipping in my country.
I hope i've posted on the right place Cheesy

5  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Discussion and Questions / Modelling material toxic? on: September 17, 2008 02:47:42 AM
I have some problems with my health, well, it's not a big thing, it looks like food poisoning. But my father thinks that the modelling material which i use for making earrings might be a bit toxic and my liver doesn't like it Cheesy. Indeed, it has a strong odor that remains a couple of hours in my room (unfortunately i don't have a workshop) and this week i've been working a lot making earrings.
After i finish them i paint them with varnish/lacquer, and i believe that this is a bit toxic, but this week i haven't used it and when that happens, i varnish them in the balcony.
This is the material i use: http://www.genovalaser.it/pics/images/i01/5262.jpg
Please let me know if you know anything about this Smiley
