1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Vintage fabricwhat is it? on: February 19, 2012 06:37:29 AM
I found this fabricit is almost like interfacing, but with wild 70s prints.  It is heavier than typical interfacing, almost heavy paper like.  I'm not a sewer, but am so curious about what it is!  I don't have photos taken, but could take these tomorrow.  Any thoughts?  I've tried searching the internet for printed interfacing, printed paper like fabric, etc.  Nothing!

I love the last one and I also like the one with the toilet quite a lot!

Roy de Forest - San Francisco Bay Area artist in the California Funk movement, nationally known.

Thanks!  The last one is my favorite too - I am using a lot more layers and scratching/gouging.  It is fun and I like the effect.

I did a cute house and posted under misc.

Features dogs too, but not the scratching as much.  But I did a faux tin roof that came out nice (I think).

I love it - so inspiring and beautiful!

I'm a sucker for shrines!  Love yours.  Great use of the old barbie house or whatever it was.

Like you, I have a stash of stuff for future projects.  I'm trying to use things I have now - and avoiding the craft store!  It is hard though...

The heart reminds me a little of Jim Dine's work, as he uses that image a lot. The way you handle paint is different, but he might be neat to look up if you haven't heard of him yet. Have you ever done a series of the same image/composition that you paint/draw/watercolor in different ways?
I also liked the dog a lot. It reminds me of a children's book illustration or something similarly whimsical.

Thanks Ashley.  I'll look up Jim Dine - I'm not familiar with him.  I like the idea of doing a series of the same image...I'll add that to the list of future "to do" projects.
10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Mixed media collage 3D Love Shack on: March 24, 2009 09:16:22 PM
I made this little Love Shack for a pug rescue group - 75% of proceeds will go towards a surgery needed on one of their pugs.  I like the way it turned out.  Wasn't sure where to post...

It is about 8.5" tall and 4" square.

Here is the front.  The main pug is on a little spring and stands away from the canvas board:
