131  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: Crafty Housewives?! on: October 28, 2004 09:02:34 PM
getting back to what donutgirl said about the Flylady website -- i love it!  they have great tips for getting and staying organized, and making it seem pretty simple.  i don't do the whole program, but have picked up great things like the "27 fling boogie!"

Oh how I love the 27 fling! I have a problem w/ keeping crap around that I don't really have any use for. This helps a lot!

I was a housewife for a couple years when we first got married but am now a wannabe.  Maybe someday!

Does anyone do the Flylady program (www.flylady.net)  It really helps me keep things organized.

And I don't know what I'd do w/out those Mr Clean Erasers.  I love them

134  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: How to knit on: October 24, 2004 05:36:31 PM
I used Idiot's Guide to Knitting and Crochet and various websites to teach myself after going to a free knitting class and coming home frustrated and ready to give up.

There are so many websites out there with easy to understand instructions.  I like stitchguide.com---they have streaming videos that helped me a lot (although some videos are mislabeled, for the most part it works).  The Stitch n Bitch book has really nice simple instructions as well

(edited to make myself sound less idiotic.. heh)
135  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: how do you cast on? on: October 24, 2004 05:01:31 PM
I don't know why but casting on took me forever to get.  I spent a two hour knitting class trying to learn to cast on, giving up, and never going to back to the class. I finally taught myself using this site:

Now if I could just remember how to purl I'll be alright (i keep learning how and then forgetting very quickly)

Ever since Jamil's was mentioned I have been craving a big steak. Now I know where I'm making the husband take me for my birthday! yum.

It's primarily a steak house, but you also get hummus and tabouleh and veggies and things beforehand.  It's been awhile since I've been there though.  I remember always wanting garlic bread but not getting any. That might have been the only down side.

(hint: don't get wine there, they've been known to mix it with cheap vodka)

Oh the flea market at the fairgrounds is great.    I think they're only open on Saturdays now. Every time I want to go it's on a Sunday and they're closed

Though I once chipped a really expensive Baccarat vase and had to run away fast before the booth guy caught me. I'm afraid to go in there now, expecting to see my face on a huge wanted sign

ooh, i love Jamil's. mmm.. hummus.. yum.

hey there! I'm in Tulsa!  I don't really know of any good craft stores around. I usually to Hobby Lobby or Joann's but am always looking for new places to shop.  my favorite yarn store (at 31st and Harvard, can't remember the name which is sad, i'm getting old) closed..

Anyway.. hi!!
