I got my goodies!
Here's the whole package:

The glasses I got with the gift card she sent me, and my favorite is the 'WINE' wall art!!!

I'll come back to write more about the goodies later, I have out-of-town relatives this weekend and gotta feed 'em.

2  Re: Garden Supply Swap 2009 in The Swap Gallery by odd_artist on: April 13, 2009 11:12:00 AM
So sorry it took me so long to post pics - I got the wonderful package the end of last week, but was having neck spasms all day Friday and Saturday. Talk about pain! Opening this package was the only thing that took my mind off my neck - in fact I was grinning with every item I unwrapped!

Here's the whole thing:

Here's the nifty tote and the garden markers (I think you did a GREAT job on your first woodworking project!):

Someone had some fun with Fimo! I love this pot!

And even though I said I preferred handmade, these store-bought pots are SOOOOOOO me!

And I don't know how you did it, but I am awed by this pendant - how did you get that cool purple haze?

Thank you so much CamOovas !!!!!

Lookee at what Olivegreenspring sent me!

Here's the whole shebang:

Here's the large - some slate tile coasters, handpainted and beautiful:

Close-ups of the jewelry - LOVE the ceramic beads you used in the lower earrings and the bracelet, and that pendant is very cool:

An interesting piece of wall-art:

BTW - one of the glass leaf earrings arrived broken but I couldn't locate the broken piece to glue back together  Cry
And you were right - that candy from Germany ROCKS!

Thank you Olivegreenspring!!!

4  Recycled Digital Media Mosaics Frames and Tray in Completed Projects by odd_artist on: April 09, 2009 08:56:02 AM
So these are NOT complete.
But all I need to do is grout them!
I just wanted to show off a few of the many items I made yesterday during a 12-hour crafting binge. These are just the mosaic tiled items, a few frames and a tray - I won't even get into the 40+ jewelry items made from CDs, DVDs, vinyl records, and rulers! I wish the pics captured the fire in the tiles - or it may just be the clear contact paper holding the ties until I grout them...

Here's my fave - the CDs used on this frame were processed until they resemble opals:

This one is made with pieces of a single brand of CD:

This used 2 different brands of CDs:

This tray used a single brand of CDs baked for awhile:

Any suggestions on how I should grout them? I'm thinking maybe paint the frame, glue the tiles on, and give it a thick clearcoat, or use real grout in an earthtone or black. Anyone have a better idea?

5  From Brand-new to Very Olde in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by odd_artist on: April 01, 2009 12:00:17 PM
I challenged myself to expand my crafting skills by bidding on an Alchemy item on Etsy. Someone wanted to have a brand-new book re-bound into something from the Dark Ages. I had never attempted anything like this, so I practiced by making myself a journal while waiting for the book to arrive. I have since made a number of journals (of which you have seen in swaps, or will see as I complete them), having become a true addict!

Here is a pic of the completed project:

Here is what the book looked after I removed the factory wrap:

Here is the cover deconstructed:

Here is the spine detail (I cut and glued a heavy cardboard star to the spine before covering it):

Here was the mock-up they sent:

I think it turned out pretty much as they had requested. The only details you don't see in the photos are re-stitched pages, the new fly-sheets made of a handmade paper ordered from the same place I ordered the paper for the cover, and a very cool book-mark made from a piece of cord I had laying around that perfectly matched the shade of purple on the cover paper. The cord had several strands of black cord, the purple cord, and some gold lame threads all twisted together. I attached one end to the inside of the spine and made a tassel of the extra cording all unraveled. I didn't take a shot of it because I wanted it to be a surprise extra for the client.

This project has inspired me to do a couple of journals with handpainted covers as well as one I will post here as a work-in-progress that will have a dimensional cover a la Army of Darkness style.

6  Re: Craft My Theme 3 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by odd_artist on: March 21, 2009 07:11:22 AM
I got an amazing package from Megzy!
Here's (almost) the whole package, I forgot to get pics of the 2 rolls of ribbon she sent:

3 great canvases, I love the way she took 2 themes (crows and trees) and did one canvas of each and one combined:

2 trees and one black bird framed pictures, and a bag of glass bits:

And an awesome Button Tree:

I feel guilty though - this is kind of 'Gift of the Magi' ish - You'll see when Megzy gets her package.
Thank you Megzy!!!!!

Here's the package I sent Olivegreenspring-
The whole thing:

A little branch that's hollowed out into a vial, with a little stopper:

Some earrings and matching pendant, handpainted:

The Tree of Life painting:

I didn't get a clear shot of the journal, but I've recently gotten wrapped up into making these! This was one of the first, with leatherette cover and bookmark.
I'm not sending as big of packages as I used to due to postage, but I hope you liked what you got!

8  Re: 7 Words you cant say on Craftster Gallery! Show us the S*** in The Swap Gallery by odd_artist on: March 05, 2009 02:42:12 PM
Glamis - YOU ROCK!
You are so talented in so many different media...I'm not worthy!
I mean, look at this folks - 4 different items made in 4 different ways, that all go together to spell out the word 'twat':

Your paper-mache, sewing, wood-working and felting skills amazed me, but your painting was incredible!

And the card and pillow covers:

Close-up of the trim:

Some tasty extras! And what a beautiful beaded bracelet, and I LOVE the zippered bag from recycled bags (I have got to try that!):

Some very cool peace signs - how did you make those? They are awesome!!!

And I saved my absolute favorite thing I have gotten in any swap ever for last. Please note that the letters on the frame are NOT stamped into it - they stick OUT of it. It is my favorite phrase to use.
And NO - I will NOT change the picture in the frame. It is far too ... too ... I cannot find words for how cool it is...
Woman, you need to make frames like this for your online shop (I can't remember what the name of the Etsy-like site you are on. Please send me the link again!):

You spoiled me so much. I want to send you more stuff!

I have all but my last set of inchies - Thank you to Goatgoddess, Vamping, Allegory, and Loves2experiment!

Allegory and Vamping (cool fold-out)

Loves2experiment and Goatgoddess

I'm afraid I can't even begin to pick a fave from each group - I was so overwhelmed with 4 sets!
But I want to thank L2X for the tree - I will add it to my Tree wall!
And I like the 'Do not Iron' birthday cake, and the fold out owl.
And I ADORE the background paper on the last set - how do you do it, Goatgoddess?

Thank ALL of you so much!!!
