Oh btw, I figured I'd throw this in here if any of you were interested:

Remember how I mentioned I was on that speech team? One of my old coaches works for Young Chicago Authors & is doing this long running slam called The Encyclopedia Show. They basically do poetry around a certain topic & plan on working through the alphabet by the time the series is finished. I missed the first one, but the second night is this Wednesday the 7th. It's 5 bucks & at the Chopin Theatre on Division [next to Evil Olive]. There's some bigger named performers in slam there as well as newer/younger people [like one of my teammates that's probably my favorite person on the planet]. It should be awesome, so come down if you've got the night free & are in the mood for good entertainin'!

[& let me know if you do so we can meet up! Smiley]

OH, HEY. REMEMBER ME? I had the worst end of last semester & family issues over the holidays, but GOOD LORD, I miss you girls! Tell me we're on for sometime soon because I need to see all of you [& work on that horrible blanket that's barely progressing].

And also, if anyone wants Mexican food today, pm me or something because I'm CRAVING IT hahaha.

You're a genius for fixing the title/adding thumbtack.

Sorry I've been a phantom lately. I'll see everyone tomorrow though, eh? Rae, are you hosting? Still haven't seen the new place!!

Before I saw who posted I thought, "Man, that looks like Kara" Cheesy

I can't believe you made anything so fabulous from that wreck of a dress! (For those of you who didn't have the pleasure of seeing it in person.... the photos do it more justice than it deserved. Cheesy)  Actually, wait... now that I think about it you do have some awesome skills.... Good job!

HAHA! You've either had a long day, or you've never seen me in presentable form before hahah [both are equally plausible, I'm guessing haha]. I know I don't seem to ever do anything but crochet that afghan, but remember that I can! And the sewing lessons are totally still on the table haha. Smiley

Okay, so we're all familiar with Belle from Beauty & the Beast:

I was originally planning on being something else for Halloween, but then I had an ugly dress party. The Craftsters in Chicago have heard about that, & let me just tell the rest of you that it was pretty intense. ANYWAY, I had this horrible wedding dress for one of the costumes from that party.

[that would be me on the left in the original dress. And there's one more underneath this]

SO after looking at this dress, I realized it. Was. Belle. With a little bit of work, that is.

So I used some RIT Dye, made some sash-like gathers, & made a 10-yard tulle petticoat for underneath it. Now, I know it's not 100% handmade, but it's a big turn around. And the rules said it just had to have a handmade component! The results?

[sorry about low image quality; I ended up getting sick on Halloween & had to cancel my plans anyway, UGH]

The one time I did get to wear it out, I ended up getting a TON of people yelling "Belle!!" "Beauty!!" "Beauty & the Beast!!!!" at me when I was walking down the mag mile hahahah. Mission: success!

SO long story short on my end, my roommates kicked me out last week [then claimed they didn't do so when I found a place to move]. I was running errands with my mom yesterday & finishing up some last minute moving things while my new roommates are out of town.

And I'm heading to the suburbs next Thursday for some morning Halloween things the next day. BUT. Rae, I'm anxious to see the new place, so you need to host again soon. And I'll see everyone first week in November FOR SURE. I've been craft-free too long.
