1  Re: Crafty Ornaments for your X-MAS Tree Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by VaMountainFamily on: December 06, 2006 04:35:06 PM
THANK YOU DIANNA! So much craftiness stuffed in one box!

Cute little mini-pressies:

Bright tropical flowers:

Cute little Santa and sleighs, love the details:

Reindeer scrunchie (Makes me wish I had long hair LOL, I'll put it on a tree branch, though):

Coca-cola ornaments (What did you use to cut these?):

Ornaments made from the timeless salt and flour dough (I LOVE the mushroom, and the blue/red swirly one!):

Some empty candy wrappers (okay, okay, they weren't empty when I got them  Grin)

And my favorite, favorite, favoritiest of all... beaded snowmen (I would love you forever if you tell me how you did these!)

THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN!!! I love them all!!!  Kiss Kiss Kiss

2  Re: gift for a TOTAL stranger? in Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage by VaMountainFamily on: October 08, 2006 09:54:31 PM
Thanks. I like the gift card idea!  Grin

The man said it's in nice condition other than a broken hinge and a broken glass pane (both of which can be fixed pretty easily).

(A fireplace insert is like a woodstove that fits into your fireplace. Without it, you lose a lot of heat going up the chimney, but an insert helps push the hot air into the room.

We're planning on using wood to solely heat our home this winter to save money. )

3  Need help with pricing- travel playmat in Get Product and Website Opinions by VaMountainFamily on: October 05, 2006 06:46:35 PM
I made this roll-up playmat for a friend, and now I have a couple people wanting to buy them. However, I have NO idea what to charge.

It's made of felt, all detailing done by hand. The back is lined with cotton fabric. Has a velcro pocket to store the toy cars, and has the child's name embroidered on.

All rolled-up:

How much would you spend on something like this? Any ideas for improvements? ALL HONEST OPINIONS WELCOME!!

(BTW, it's pretty cheap to make, $3 at the most. And it doesn't take me that long. Oh and it's 10" wide and 30" long- not including the pocket part).

THANK YOU LaHeather, Corbin and Cosette!!

Here is a fairy skirt, t-shirt and necklace for Abbie (18m). The t-shirt has a glitter-painted butterfly stenciled on. In the note, she said Corbin made the necklace:

Abbie trying everything on (please excuse my ragamuffin of a child. She's sweaty from playing outside, plus needed a nap in a bad way  Tongue)

Checking out the necklace:

For Isaiah (3m), she made him a tie-dye t-shirt and a matching bib!

AND... she made some gorgeous cloth wipes (we both cloth diaper, how cool is that?). Such a cute print to remember summer by (Abbie is pointing out the "erries") Oh, and I'm totally jealous... I wish I had a serger to make such cute wipes!

THANK YOU SO MUCH! You have made my very first swap an AWESOME experience!!  Kiss

5  First things first... *update w/ picture* in Crafty Business Discussion by VaMountainFamily on: September 30, 2006 12:39:16 PM
I  need a name!  Grin

I will be selling a variety of things, but mostly things for children:
* personalized wall-hangings
* loveys/blankets
* felt stuffies
* faerie costumes
* bibs/burp clothes
* felt playmats
* small totes

I live in the mountains, love everything about the outdoors/nature, like magical things such as faeries, obsessed with turtles.

I would want something that incorporates some of the above, for a real natural/outdoorsy/magical sounding name.

Anyone wanna throw some ideas at me!  Grin

ETA: What do you think about "Mountain Sprite Workshop"?

Okeydokey: what do you think about this?:

thanks for all your help!

8  A few questions re: messenger bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions by VaMountainFamily on: November 01, 2005 01:20:25 PM
Hey! I made my first bag to use in place of my way-too-cutesy diaperbag ala Jordy-style.

Here are a few pics:

ANYWAYS, I have a few questions...

1) How do I make compartments in it? Like I want to put in a [fabric] divider in it, to make 2 compartments, instead of one big pouch. What's the best way to go about this... make two linings and have them side by side? (Or would that work since you turn everything inside out. I'm confuzzled  Huh)

2) How can I make the bottom stronger, so when you have it put in on your shoulder, the sides don't bow in and the middle sags??  Someone mentioned putting some plastic canvas in the bottom. At what stage do I do this? LIke I said, I'm following the Jordy tute... and I don't understand how that would work, since you are turning everything inside out.

3) How can I make some adjustable straps?

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!  I appreciate it so much for the help, or some links to the right pages!!!  Kiss

Sorry I'm so dumb.  Embarrassed
