So I know this is so late in the thread but every year one of the neighbors on my street would ask everyone to start collecting their used milk jugs around thanksgiving time and give them to him. He would cut a hole in the sides of them, clean them out and fill them with sand and place a tea light in them and line the whole street with them to help guide the reindeer to our street. It was really neat since we had a lot of kids on our street. It helped us sleep better that night knowing that Santa couldn't miss us.

5  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Recycled Plastic bag Tutu on: June 29, 2008 06:49:17 PM
I suppose you could make one for a human but this one is for a stuffed animal or a doll.

A Tutu for your doll or stuffed animal made from recycled plastic bags!

Step 1. Measure the waist of your doll or stuffed animal, cut a piece of elastic slightly smaller so it will fit snugly and not fall off. Sew it together and make sure it will not pull apart.

Step 2. Cut strips of plastic bags into 1/2 inch strips or smaller if you want. The length should about the length of the bag. You can trim to size later.

Step 3. Tie the strips (2 together) onto the elastic. Make sure to make double or triple knots and not to pull too hard because they will just break. Tie them on until you have a full tutu and cant see anymore elastic.

Step 4. Cut all the strips to the length you prefer.

Step 5. Dress your doll or stuffed animal.

Longer strips can be used to make great pompoms!
I am on a crazy craft binge lately and made some of these for my girls for their stuffed bunnies Foo Foo and Bo Bo. The strips were from left over handles from plastic bags that I fused together to make a strong reusable tote.

Comments welcome!!
