2  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Best fabric for cloth napkins? on: November 19, 2009 10:58:16 AM
Hi there all! I am really wanting make my Momma and my little sister cloth napkins for their homes *my sister is getting married next week! and my Mom is moving into a new home*, but I'm kinda confused on what type of fabric is best. I've seen alot of people using just quilting fabric on etsy, but is there something better? What about linen? I was thinking that for my mom I wanted to make a stencil and stamp a repeating image along the border, but for my sister a print would do just fine.
I am very new to sewing so I am not exactly familiar with weight or anything like that.
Any input would be greatly appreciated. Smiley

7  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: Old Gregg - a scaley man fish on: August 11, 2009 12:31:00 PM
Mm... creamy... bailey's. lol
This was WAAAAAAAAY big with the Coast Guard station where I grew up, someone found it on Youtube, and the guys just went nuts over it.
I think my favorite quote is either, "this is as close as you can get to bailey's without getting your eyes wet" OR "I've got the funk, no really, it's right here in this box"
haha British humor is so out there, I literally had to watch it twice, the first time I was thinking, this is the dumbest thing I've ever watched, and the second I was in stitches.
8  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / My first crochet project! A baby blanket for two great friends! on: February 06, 2009 09:45:34 AM
Okay, so I found out in early August that I was pregnant, so that triggered something in me. I decided that I HAD to learn to crochet and knit. I was planning on starting a baby blanket for MY baby, but instead got caught up in making this blanket for one of my best-est friends and his wife. We are both in military families so I knew that with her husband being away that any little thing would make her smile. Smiley She had Dean last Friday, he's a beautiful little guy. Unfortunately her husband wasn't able to attend the birth, and still doesn't know when he'll be able to meet his son. Sad
Anywho! Here it is, this is my first post with pictures, so I hope this works. Smiley

Okay, now to start on something for my son. haha
9  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Re: Stencil and Etching Creme... but how?? on: February 04, 2009 09:46:21 AM
Okay so I played around with a few techniques, and what worked best for me was printing the image and then using paint to fill in what I didn't want etched. I didn't take pictures of the process... D'oh! But I did get the World of Warcraft glasses finished. The first two I tried the etching cream bleed through, but the other two came out good. I'm satisfied with them, they do have SOME uh-oh spots, but for the most part I think they turned out well.
I gave up on the Dolphins logo, but am thinking of revisitng it later. Shocked)
I'll post pictures soon!
