481  Re: Ongoing ATC Swap - February 2013 GALLERY! in The Swap Gallery by blupaisan on: February 24, 2013 04:33:11 PM

I could have sworn I posted this in the gallery already, but I cannot find it!  Sometimes my computer does not cooperate, so I may have clicked 'post' but it did not take. Please excuse me if this is a repeat. FancyButch made it for me on my cats theme. I love the color but especially love the bubbly effect of the background. Thank you so much, FancyButch. Really nice job.

Squeeeee!  Look what Susie Apple made for me!!
On my 'one of these things is not like the other...' theme -

I think this is hillarious. Imposter!  My hubby liked it, too. And of course ya'll know that I am zan zan for cats, so I love the cat theme.

Then she made me a Tintin bonus -

It's Milou, or Snowy, as we know him in Anlgais.

Merci beaucoup, Susie Apple. J'aime bien les awesome cards!!

corchen and I did a personal ATC swap and she is swamped with Life, so I am posting what I made for her.
On her e e cummings theme...

On her twisted Fairy Tales theme... The fisherman and his wife:

On her Geeky teddy bears theme...

One just for fun -

One I call Grandma's Quilt -

The last one, an asian painting on bamboo

Thanks for looking. She said she liked 'em.

I don't THINK corchen has posted this yet.....  she is kinda swamped with Life right now, so here is the card I made for her. She asked to illustrate the quote "toto, I dont think we're in Kansas anymore"

I rec'd from ChameleonHound!  Check out the cool envie it came in.... (I blocked out addresses in case that was the thing to do)

Then inside the card was a text holder for the ATC itsself. More coolness...

My theme was giant work horses one of whom I simply MUST own someday... I luv luv luv this card!  CH knows that I am also a cat lover. The title is 'the nose knows'

Thanks so much, CH!  I was waiting and waiting for someone to claim this theme. You did such a great job.

Here is the 'surprise/mystery' card that cabaute made for me, as she did not choose a theme at the time. This is such a cool card. It reminds me of Paul Klee for some reason, due to its minimalism. Really nice effect, and I luuuv tigers!

She also made a bonus on my 1963 theme which I absolutely ADORE!!

Again, minimalism ROCKS!!  I can't say enough good things about how this simple sketch sends me. You are a true artist, cabaute!!

Plus, she sent me 2 gorgeous papers to use

Thank you for a wonderful 'package'. It came on a day when I truly needed some tender luving care...

488  Re: Sweet and Easy Valentine's Day Swap Round 3 in The Swap Gallery by blupaisan on: February 14, 2013 10:45:01 AM
I got a wonderful package from WingsofClay yesterday, just in time!!  I was having a migraine, so opening the box took my mind off it for awhile. I dove right into the chocolate-peanut butter candies, which is why you see here an empty bag!!

She also gave me ones with caramel which I will share with my hubby for dessert tonite if he is being good...

The heartfelt card...

A 'wicked cool' notebook that she made, so inventive. Awesome cover, painted cards (?) for pages, and a really neat binding.

This wee book will live beside my bed. I often get great ideas for stories (I am a writer) during the night, or from dreams and I need a place to jot them down immediately.

Then the BIG gift...

I think I will put this by my computer to replace the ratty pens and pencil holder I have.

She used my favorite luvy saying, "love makes the world go 'round", which I feel so strongly about. I think all of the world's problems, large and small, would disappear if we all learned to respect and love one-another, despite all differences.
The inside is lined with dress-making patterns!  Sooo cool!

Obviously a great deal of effort and time went into creating this piece. I just LOVE it!
Thank you so much, WingsofClay.  If you have any details to share with us about how you built it, we would love to hear about it!!

Here is what Homerof2 made for my 'things that happened in 1963' request. I can't believe how much a stamp costs!!  I love this card... it has lots of info on it and is pretty.  Thanks so much, Homerof2.

And here is what Artmomto5 made for 'one of these things is not like the other...'

At first I thought it was a cats theme that I had requested, and suddenly I see this raccoon in there and I say to myself 'what the......" and then I read the real theme of the card. I laughed and laughed.  What an awesome card!!  Thank you so much, Artmomto5.   ps It is called "masked marauder'

490  Multi-use cat box in CHALLENGE 83 ENTRIES by blupaisan on: February 10, 2013 11:31:04 AM

My local department store graciously donated this shoe box. It already had a hole cut out in the side, lined with metal and this gave me the idea that my kitties would not be able to keep themselves from sticking their paws into that hole. Thus came the inspiration to turn the challenge into a cat box. As it was built, more ideas came into my head and in the end the unit serves 3 purposes... play stations, snuggle bed, and scratching "post."

Begin.... one lidded box:

Here is the pre-existing hole that "started it all..."

Smokey supervises as I cut down cardboard for the scratching base...

The larger of the 2 scratching bases:

The smaller, also held together with Gorilla duct tape, keeping to the black fashion statement...

Dandi, testing the bases after they have been inserted into the box...

Out come the scratchers and in goes a simple toilet seat cover as a snugly...

Dandi the one who is ALWAYS squishing herself into tiny boxes approves:

Snuggly comes out and it is playtime!! This toybox is very personalized. One cat loves to chew on wood, hence the chopstick in the lid, one cat loves to chew on electronic accessory cords (has cost me a lot over the years, so I added an old computer microphone cord to the box), Smokey is addicted to my gold necklace because it is so snake-like, so I attached it to a string and it slowly glides into the box through that preexisting hole.  Also to play with... a feathery dreamcatcher, a skeleton key, and a cork which is on the other end of the gold necklace and serves not only as a pull-handle for that, but also one other thing for them to bat around. There is a plastic golf ball in there that rolls around and they stick their arms through the holes trying to catch it.

One hole is covered with plastic mesh from the top of a tangerine box and serves as 'the torture hole' where they can see movement inside but cannot reach through that particular hole to get at it.

I put a toilet paper tube in, also, thinking that one of these days, a long arm is gonna try to reach down in there.

Even when the lid is alone on the floor, Smokey starts to chew on the chopstick.

It is also something to just whack at...

Other features I neglected to photograph... I glued gridded rubbery shelf liner to the box bottom so it would not slide all over the floor as they play. I glued pretty ribbon at the edges of the lid. Stickers on the side spell out CAT BOX.

I guess that's just about it!!

Thanks for looking.
