2  Yummy Giant Puffball, easy recipe in Vegetarian / Vegan by blupaisan on: November 04, 2017 07:46:51 AM

This enormous puffball mushroom was calling to me. I had never eaten a wild shroom before but if there is a safe one to id, this is it!!

Look how it takes up the entire sink!  I did not wash, you mustn't of course, but it was just there so I could chop off the tiny area of root.

The outer skin is tough, so slice it all off. Plus, IT WILL GIVE YOU SERIOUS GASTROINTESTINAL ISSUES OF YOU EAT IT.

cute one slice after removing the outer smaller 'heel' as you would a loaf of bread.

Marinating 2T of sherry, 2T of tamari, 2T of balsamic vinegar for 20 minutes, turning over halfway thru.

Fry in olive oil for 5 minutes on medium, I had to adjust frequently so it would not stick but that is due to the fact that I have all lousy cookware. Add 1T chopped garlic, 3T chopped fresh basil, and flip the whole thing so that your added stuff is now on the bottom, turn heat down one notch and continue to fry for another 3 minutes. Turn heat off, put loose lid on the whole thing and let sit for 5 minutes.

I sprinkled turmeric all over and put the slice on a generous bed of alfalfa sprouts.

It was truly yummy and very filling!

thanks for looking!!

3  The Beatles Visit Hogwarts, book taking a year to complete. PIC HEAVY!!! in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by blupaisan on: October 20, 2017 03:35:43 PM

A few years ago I made this for my daughter, Acadian Driftwood.

She is a Beatles and HP fan.
Each page has an ATC and altered lyrics. She had to figure out which Beatles song it represented. (can YOU?)   All songs are based on the books.

For a Christmas present, I presented the book with only the first page in it. Each month after that for the upcoming year, I mailed her another page. At the end of the year, it was complete.

So here we go, beginning with January, and all months thereafter.....

pen and ink and watercolor

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

burned parchment, pen and ink

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

marker and colored pencil

the lemon is showed because the card when it arrived at my daughter's house, was seemingly blank. I had written in lemon juice and when she put it in her toaster oven, the words emerged.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

binding is vine, cut and paste words and pics from various books.

colored pencil. real feathers, real slate.

pen n ink n watercolor

thanks for looking!!

I did the next year based on the All Creatures Great and Small Series, also Beatles songs.

When I did a preview, I saw that many lyrics are hard to see. Small. If you go to my photo hosting page on this site, I wonder if they can be seen bigger?

my partner, sheepBlue
DELIVERED!!!

I asked for a magnet for my fridge or microwave or stove or any metal surface.

here is what she created...

yes, black cats are representational of Halloween, but I have a special place in my heart for them. I have NEVER met a black cat I do not like and I have deeply loved several.

I adore the autumn leaves surrounding her and the fact that the item is so tiny and functional!

It came with a rockin' card in my favorite color.

Thank you, sheepBlue!!!!

5  My childhood hamper was headed to the landfill!!!! in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by blupaisan on: October 10, 2017 04:14:38 AM
Dad moved to assisted living. The hamper did not sell in the final tag sale. It was headed to the landfill. nooooooooooo!!!

It was purchased by mom and dad when we moved to our house in 1960
The revamp was easy. A coat of spraypaint on a sunny day,

Waited for a rainy day with no work to add acrylic freehand details.

Although this is a smallish item, I have no idea where I am gonna put it! I live in a tiny cottage.
I also hope the kitties do not decide that the sides are just the texture they have been searching for as the perfect scratching post.

6  Catnip Christmas Wreath for my local shelter's fundraiser in CHALLENGE 120 ENTRIES by blupaisan on: October 08, 2017 11:08:40 AM

Last year I traveled an hour away to harvest some seriously potent wild catnip for this project. I established it in my own garden so I could allow it to really thrive and grow huge.  I picked ten plants of it last week for this project.

The fabric for the mice is from a skirt I made as a teenager. It was stashed in my daughter Acadian Driftwood's collection and she let me steal it back. I got out my lastest sewing machine (gift from LadybugsAndBumblebees!!!) and made these mice to serve as ornaments. They have fabric tails so no yarn for kitties to swallow. No eyes to pop off and swallow either. If they are opened by claws, there is no loose stuffing to swallow either, as they are filled with large cut pieces of ladies stockings.

Here is a picture of the back with an arrow pointing to the ring which I describe below....

All of the wreath is cat friendly. There is nothing to cause danger. The initial branches of nip are secured with rings, the kind found in a three ring school binder. after that, it was just weaving further stems into the bigger ones.

I purchased a 99 cent tie at Goodwill and upcycled it into the bow.

Here are just a few of the wonderful creatures who are going to benefit from the money this will bring in...  From youngest to oldest-----

Fifi, one of four black kittens. She has been the most frightened so I work with her. She hisses and struggles when picked up and that is no way to get adopted! She has  come a long way and now she purrs.

Chaplin, a holy terror at the tender age of 9 weeks. He is obsessed with drawing as much blood from the human skin as he can. He is a real challenge. He did not come in with other kittens or a mama and I do not know his history but I have been working hard to get a behaviour change in him!

Lyngarra. I teamed up in April with a rescue group from NYC and drove down to a farm where there were many many cats breeding and dying. There were many more than they expected and they ran out of options for foster care so unexpectly, I came home with two pregnant kitties to foster. Lyngarra was one of them. Can you believe she gave birth to 5 kittens when she was only 9 months old herself?Huh?

This is Marlin. His ear is purposely cut, it is called tipping, because he is feral. An untamed and probably untamable cat. When you come across an ear tipped cat in your travels, you will know it is probably not a good idea to approach it, it may bite. The ear tip is an obvious mark to show anyone concerned about it populating the neighborhood that it has BEEN FIXED and there is no need for you to try to trap it and fix it.   been there, done that.   Marlin bit me a couple of months ago but I refused to be swayed. He was just scared. He is always in this cubby so that tends to make him feel cornered. That is hard but ya gotta let them be where they wanna be.   I have worked with him intensely and he now trusts me enough to massage his belly, the most vulnerable place for a cat. I do love  this handsome dude so much!

lastly, here is Zamboni, who has been homeless at the shelter FOR A YEAR!  He is a serious lovebucket and I adore visiting him but i do wish him gone! As in adopted!

thanks for looking and feel free to copy my idea as an awesome gift for the cat lover in your life!!

7  Re: OTT October Holidays 2017 (SIGNUPS 9/10 to 9/26; MAIL 10/19) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by blupaisan on: September 30, 2017 07:58:04 AM

My daughter, age 5, long before she was Acadian Driftwood on Craftster.
She made this luna moth costume completely on her own. Green tablecloth cut up for wings, feathers on her headband as moth antennae.

then when she was 13, she made another humdinger pictured here!

yes, that is indeed a toilet. The string gets pulled and the lid comes up and that is where the candy is deposited!

9  The Dead Bug Society in New Swap Theme Ideas by blupaisan on: September 13, 2017 11:22:07 AM

I was attempting to rescue a turtle off of a major highway that runs through a swamp and found so many gorgeous dragonfly carcasses on the road.
Made me want to craft with them.
I recently used butterfly wings in a mini house swap.
Jewelry,
magnets,
bookmarks,
greeting cards,
framed art,
what else could one do with a beautiful specimen found on the roadside?

anyone interested in doing a swap based on this? I am thinking one tiny things but still with this name

adorable bunting.
the plethora of moss gives the feel of it being in the deepest of woods.

ickle pine cone tree, squeeee!!

thanks so much, curiousfae!!!!
