1  Cake - Mr. Mastodon Farm in CHALLENGE 36 ENTRIES by RubyD on: March 05, 2009 06:40:17 PM
Excellent Challenge! This really inspired me.
I really enjoy early Cake's beat style poetry, it sets my imagination on fire! One of my favorites - Mr. Mastodon Farm, from Cake's first album - Motorcade of Generosity.

"Mr. Mastodon Farm"

Birds fall from the window ledge above mine.
Then they flap their wings at the last second.

You see birds fall from the window ledge above mine.
Then they flap their wings at the last second.
I can see their dead weight
Just dropping like stones
or small loaves of bread
Past my window all the time.
But unless I get up,
Walk across the room
And peer down below,
I don't see their last second curves
Toward a horizontal flight.
All these birds just falling from the ledge like stones.

Now due to a construct in my mind
That makes their falling and their flight
Symbolic of my entire existence,
It becomes important for me
To get up and see
Their last second curves toward flight.
It's almost as if my life will fall
Unless I see their ascent.

Mr. Mastodon Farm,
Mr. Mastodon Farm,
Cuts swatches out of all material.

I present my interpretation....  SMALL LOAVES OF BREAD falling past my window all the time.,,,

I saw this challenge and had to do it!  I took some muslin I had and fiberfil, and sewed a little loaf of bread with plushy wings.  It's got a cut up wire hangar in holding the wings up and a Macguyver style middle including tape and matchboxes to hold the wings up...  here's some more action photos in our backyard! (Yes.. I live in AZ.. my orange tree is blooming and it smells WONDERFUL!

2  Ipod Owl in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by RubyD on: February 03, 2009 05:34:36 PM
Inspired by moxie_d https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=206863.0

I present the IPOD Owl! This one fits the 30gig Ipod "classic". I streamlined it a bit so it's only 2 flaps and it's about the size of an adult hand.   Because it's the older Ipod the headphone jack is on the top you can plug it into the top of his head.

Thanks Moxie_D!

3  Modest Mouse Bathroom - Lots o' pics in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by RubyD on: February 02, 2009 07:51:01 PM
So, we moved in 3 years ago and I thought yellow would be a good idea.... Uh..yea... What was I thinking?   So.. we went from urine yellow to Evening blue!  And since the color so closely matched the new Modest Mouse album color.. i had to go for it.  What do you think?

Hi!  This is my 1st post, so I hope you like it!
This was a gift for by BIL.  I took a regular operation game and ZOMBIFIED IT! The eyes on all of the Zombies, including the big one is glow in the dark puffy paint.

That's my husband and BIL on the heads of the surgeons from the cover.

And the patient...

EDIT! I forgot the back of the box.
