3961  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Recon Jeans backpack [IMAGE HEAVY] on: May 07, 2009 03:38:49 PM
oh I wish I had found this before I threw out my jeans!  this is fan-freaking-tastic!!!  I have a pair of jeans that don't fit me anymore (then again, I don't think they ever did.  after one wash they went from fitting me to fitting someone about a foot shorter than me).  maybe I'll fish them out and make this!!!  I need a new bag anyway...

I've been frustrated about not finding stuff for mine, now we're having issues finding stuff for his.

you can thank the DSi for that.  now everything coming out will be for it and the DS Lite is out of date.  I supposedly bought something for my DS Lite, and guess what...my Lite won't fit!  the carry case is SMALLER than my DS!  so I basically just wasted money on the thing.  all I got out of the pack is a microfiber cleaning cloth, pen stylus and game case.  $15 for those tiny things.   Angry

well, I received from 2 of my partners, but I'm sad.  Cry

as you can see, the one on the left broke in the mail on its way from little dragonfly.   Cry  I'm pretty sure I can fix it.  it's kinda funny how I made a pair of earrings with coral and received a pair made with coral.  thank you!

and here we have 2 pretty pairs from Kerallyn.  loverly!  thank you!

thank you!  now I want to make more stuff.  I bought a stemless martini glass for my aunt and I was going to paint it, but I changed my mind.  now, I'm going to etch it.   Grin

I will tell you right now...you are right about it probably being easier to use smaller bottles.  for one, my hand was extremely shaky yesterday, and holding the big bottle I had purchased wasn't making it shake any less.  also, because of the size of the bottle, I felt I had a little less control.  oh well.  I still like mine.  Smiley

and yes, I finally decided to give this a go.  here's mine: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=304010.0

yours come out so neat.  mine look a little...less neat, but I love them all the same.  once I saw your other pin cushions, I knew I had to start making them too.  I love your little hedgehogs too.  they are so cute!

great job everyone!   Grin

well, I did hear from taloola and she did receive her earrings a few days ago.  she told me her internet is on the fritz, so I'm offering to post the earrings I made for her.

I love the turquoise and red ones the most.  I'm going to have to make myself a pair.  they are genuine turquoise, red coral Swarovski crystals and actual red coral.
3970  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / etched Mother's Day vase! on: May 07, 2009 07:15:09 AM
inspired by Onyxnox's etched unicorn canisters, I decided I wanted to try glass etching.  I have TONS upon TONS of glass vases, candle holders, etc., but I was kinda nervous about doing the etching.  I finally went out and bought the cream and puffy paint (just like Onyx used) and let it sit.  with Mother's Day coming up, I wasn't quite sure what I was going to do.  at first, I thought about doing more jewelry for her.  so, I set out to Wal-Mart to see if I could pick up something a little different to use with what I already had.  I always love going to the aisle where they have vases and the fake flowers to see what glassware they have.  and there it was; a thin purple vase.  she LOVES purple.  I decided this is what I was doing for her.  I decided on the font I wanted and taped the printout to the inside of the vase and traced it with the puffy paint.  I let it dry all night and finished it today.

we'll do this backwards so the correct picture shows first.  Wink  please ignore the date.
the finished product

the etching cream in place

the puffy paint and painter's tape covering the vase

what do you think?
