31  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Ongoing ATC Swap -- December 2016 Gallery! on: January 03, 2017 04:21:41 PM
I received from emilywilde today!  behold!  Glittery, Shiny, Lovely Crows!!!

the theme she chose was glitter, but she decided to add crows into the mix, which is another of my themes.  and really, it's fitting.  crows like to collect shiny objects, and in this case, they are the shiny things.  Smiley  they almost look like they're cosmic crows with that sparkly purple, blue and silver background.  I just love it!  thank you Emily!
32  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Ornament Wreath on: December 18, 2016 05:04:18 PM
after making my mini wreath last year, I wanted to make a bigger one this year.  so, grabbing some ornaments after they went on sale last year, I waited (and waited and waited and waited...) until finally someone was able to get a wire hanger for me from the dry cleaner (do they even sell these things anywhere anymore?) to use as the base.  thankfully these ornaments are put together in a way that makes the tops hard to pop off the ornament, so I didn't have to glue them  I just strung them on the hanger, arranging them so they nestled together (you can see the hanger in a couple of places, but now that it's hanging up, it's not really noticeable), then wasted about 20 feet of ribbon trying to make the bow.  I'm kinda bad at making bows.  Undecided

this one went to my parents.  I'll be making a black/white/silver one for myself as soon as I get another hanger.

I'm in South Carolina, USA.
I do not care for the smell of smoke regardless of what it comes from.  no nudity (I got an ATC once of a mermaid.  she was topless, but she had stars covering her boobies.  that is fine), sexuality, foul language (not that I'm against it, I just don't want it on my cards), gore (when I say gore, I mean blood AND guts, body parts that look like they were torn off, seriously gross stuff like that.  a blood splatter is no biggie), Tessellation patterns (ok in small amounts), drug references, religious references, or political references.  I'm ok with 3D elements, but please don't make them too super thick.  They will be going in card pages in a binder, and I want them to fit in the pockets.

Most of this list can be found on my Pinterest boards, and I would just put "look at my Pinterest" to make things easier, but there are things I don't really want ATCs of, so I had to make a more specific list.  Tongue

- video games (specifically Skyrim, Silent Hill, Fatal Frame, Five Nights at Freddy's, Kingdom Hearts, Persona/SMT/Atlus, Super Mario Bros. 2, God of War, Alice: Madness Returns, Haunting Ground, Okami, Year Walk)
- Marilyn Manson
- The Hunger Games
- Harry Potter/Gryffindor/Daniel Radcliffe
- vampires (that includes Twilight/Edward Cullen)
- crows/ravens
- black, red, silver, grey, mint green, and/or turquoise
- feathers
- glitter/sparkly/shiny
- Greek mythology
- Egyptian mythology/Bastet
- Halloween/Autumn/candy corn
- fantasy creatures (unicorns, pegasus, dragons, fairies (Disney fairies are ok and my faves are Tinkerbell and Silvermist), mermaids (Disney's Ariel is ok), etc.)
- cryptozoology (Bigfoot, Jersey Devil, Nessi, Kappa, etc.)
- my favorite characters (check my Pinterest)
- Todd McFarlane's Spawn
- movies/TV/books (check my Pinterest)
- Japan
- steampunk
- keys
- pop-up/moveable
- dogs (specifically Doberman Pinscher, Dachshund, Chihuahua, Pembroke Welsh Corgi, English Bulldog puppies, Shiba Inu)
- chipmunks, bunnies, groundhogs (I used to live 2 hours from Punxsutawney, PA), otters
- Goth Talk (SNL skit)
- PewDiePie (http://www.youtube.com/user/PewDiePie)
- Cryaotic (https://www.youtube.com/user/ChaoticMonki)
- Markiplier (https://www.youtube.com/user/markiplierGAME)
- famous internet cats (Pinterest boards "Kittehs of the Interwebs", "Shironekoshiro", "Maru & Hana", "Lil Bub", "Tardar Sauce")
- Sailor Moon (I love them all, but my faves are Sailor Pluto, Sailor Saturn, Sailor Moon, Black Lady, and Mistress 9)
- Orphan Black (especially Helena)
- Weird America; make an ATC about something weird from where you're from!  live in New Jersey?  make one about the Jersey Devil legend.  Pennsylvania?  make one about Centralia.  Arizona?  make one featuring Coffee Pot Rock.  just remember; keep it tame.  see above for what I'd prefer to keep out of my ATCs.  Wink
- a combination of things from this list!  Smiley

I like the abstract art idea.  Smiley  bummer that something happened to it, but it's still pretty neat for what it is.

I love the little bat bunny(?) and the hand carved stamp card.  those stamps always make me want to make my own.  I need to find a how-to...

thanks!  on both counts!  Cheesy

I have this huge thing for Mod Podging with tissue paper.  I've covered many things (mostly frames) with it to add some color and texture and to tie the frame into the project.  this is one of my favorite examples of this: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=449771.msg5400203#msg5400203

finally!  after the detour to Wisconsin, it made it!!!

that rhino was supposed to go in a pink hoop I have.  but I misjudged the space needed for the rhino that would allow it to fit in the hoop properly, and his face was too close to the side, so the cloth kept popping up from the side.  Sad  but, I had those fun frames that I got from A.C. Moore that would fit it perfectly.  I didn't want to leave it white, so I grabbed my Mod Podge and pink tissue paper and got to hiding the white!  I loved the idea of the geometric pattern on the rhino when I found it online, but I decided to make my own.  I found a rhino sprite from a video game I love (Scribblenauts) then sectioned it off to make the pattern.  I loved it so much, I've decided to make one of my own using an animal I like.  I just haven't decided which to use yet.

E was a tough one for me, but after looking through some Harry Potter lists for something that started with an "e", inspiration struck.  I had purchased the little light bulb charms like a year ago for another project, but ended up not using them.  I knew they would be perfect for this little item since it was Harry Potter-inspired to begin with.  I added them in order based on how the hourglasses are set up at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.  I'm OCD like that.  Tongue

glad you like them!

oh thank goodness!!!  it arrived!!!  now to wait impatiently for my other swap package to arrive...  Undecided

I had stopped at Jo-Ann one day when they were running a special on their scrapbook paper.  20 for $2.  it was still around Halloween, but they already had some Christmas paper out, so I grabbed a few sheets.  glad I did.  Smiley  and I left the ribbon long to allow for a choice; either as a nifty addition to the card, or it could be tied off at whatever length to hang it on a tree.

and those holly leaves have been in my stash FOREVER.  because I've had them FOREVER.  I bought them from this craft company I miss dearly.  I wish they hadn't become what they are now (not much of a craft company) so that I could buy more stuff from them, but I'll always have my memories...until I forget them.  Cheesy

I'm glad that you like it, curiousfae.  and that it arrived safely.
