1  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Inmate top and pajamas for my 1 year old nephew (couldn't help myself) on: April 11, 2011 03:00:15 PM
Good thing he can't talk yet! I'm not sure what he'd have to say about that...

I used these patterns from Ottobre Design magazine (winter 6, 2009).

As usual they were quality patterns and the models were easy to sew.

2  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / My first attempt at sewing jeans on: April 09, 2011 06:41:05 PM
I recently made these pants for my 5 year old using Burda 9559.
I had to change it a little bit because the crotch was very confusing and the pockets were way too big. Once I was done they fit her pretty good.

They're not perfect (especially not on the inside) but she likes them.

Adjustable waist with very sloppy finish:

Maybe now I'll be brave enough to try making some pants for myself.  Cheesy
3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Soft baby book for my friend's new daughter (pic heavy) on: January 28, 2011 10:53:29 AM
This is a project I started months ago when an old friend had her new baby girl.
It stayed buried under a pile of stuff for a while but I finally decided to finish it.

I wanted to make a small 8 pages book with cute animals in it.
I started with some sketches (the pic only shows the designs I decided to keep but there was more):

Then I cleaned them up in photoshop and digitized them for machine embroidery:

And here's the book, with her baby's name on it:

I'll be sending it soon, I hope the baby likes it!
4  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Three princess gowns for my daughter (picture heavy) on: December 25, 2010 11:11:11 AM
2010 has been rough on my 4 year old with her new sister born in january and me starting my clinical rotations and being away from home a lot.
She's been such a little angel though. I wanted to make something special for her.

I chose three pendants and made her a gown to match each one.

Rose red:

Snow white:

And of course, no princess wardrobe is complete without a pink gown:

I also made a crinoline (8 yards of tulle and a LOT of time):

Most of the fabric and lace is salvaged from bargain bins or comes from swaps and ebay. The patterns are used ones from etsy.
I hope you like!
5  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Pea pod costume for my nephew on: November 23, 2010 04:38:55 PM
His nickname is Little Pea, so I just HAD to...

I used Kwik Sew pattern 3446. The peas are held with velcro.
He's so much more adorable without the mask!  Smiley
6  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Panda costume for my baby on: October 28, 2010 01:07:27 PM
I know pandas have white backs... I noticed too late there was something wrong with the pattern.  Embarrassed

7  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Warm sweater and bunting for my daughters on: February 17, 2010 04:45:51 AM
I made these coordinated winter garments for my two daughters last week.
According to my 4 year old, she and her 1 month old sister are now "fabric twins". Smiley

I got the bunting pattern from Etsy and added a lining and small tags so the zipper extremities wouldn't scratch her face. The sweater pattern is from Ottobre magazine.

8  SEWING IN GENERAL / Machine Embroidery: Discussion and Questions / Free Totoro embroidery design on: January 06, 2010 10:46:27 AM
I decided to make my Totoro design available for free on my blog after several people asked where I found it.
You can download it here:

It looks like this:

I also have some other designs available which you may already have seen:

Please use only for personal projects. Smiley

9  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Fun T-shirts and hoodie from a child's drawing on: January 05, 2010 07:05:08 PM
My sister has a siamese cat with a bad temper and recently my 3 year old drew a hilarious portrait of said cat.
I thought it would be fun to digitize the drawing and sew t-shirts for my sister's son who'll be born in spring.
Here's the result:

I tried using a pattern but it didn't work well so I ended up making one from scratch.

I also made a hoodie for my daughter which she wore proudly to kindergarten today. For this one I used Burda9614:

And finally, here's the drawing that started it all:

That was a very fun project!
10  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / New year's dress for my daughter on: December 30, 2009 09:15:22 PM
Finished just in time!
She chose the model and I chose the fabric. There's a zipper in the back but I painted over it in the pic because it's a very ugly color. XD
At least it won't be visible when she wears the dress.
I made the flower using a tutorial from an old Threads mag.

She hasn't seen it yet, I hope she'll like it.
