1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / How on earth do I make a travel journal?! on: April 21, 2009 10:13:54 AM
I'm going to the States for a fortnight this summer, and I want to make a travel journal to take with me. I've had a look around, but nothing gives me exactly what I want.
Anybody got any ideas about a very easy way to make a journal (as in absolute beginner!) that doesn't look like it was made by a beginner?
I don't expect anyone to share prized secrets of their trade and all, but any help will be very gratefully recieved Cheesy
Thank you muchly
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / blanket help on: April 16, 2009 12:37:21 PM
Hi guys and girlies

I'm making my first ever blanket, and had a query question thing
i've made each block in a lace pattern with a garter stitch border. I did check the FAQ on blocking, but couldn't find an answer about whether I should block each square after making, or whether I should stitch them altogether and then block it

Thank you for any help you can give
3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / flexi-hoop help on: February 23, 2009 04:01:25 AM
Hi everyone

I bought a couple of 3" flexi-hoops online, as I liked the idea of having teensy bits of artwork everywhere, but now they have arrived and I have no idea how to get them apart! I've tried unscrewing the hook and rolling the plastic off but it just aint happening - is this because they're stiff as they're new or I'm just a complete idiot and doing it wrong?!

Any help would be much appreciated, especially if it stops me feeling like such an idiot Tongue

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Rockabilly Birthday Purse on: July 03, 2008 09:48:16 AM
My old housemate turned 21 yesterday and I wanted to make her something special. She's a total rockabilly, with Cherries being her utter favourite thing ever and I just happened to have some black gingham in my fabric stash.
A trip to buy some cute fabric for lining and a look at Jodie's http://vintagericrac.blogspot.com/2008/06/tutorial.html tutorial on RicRac as a guide and this is the result!

The Purse

The Pretty Lining

I was really pleased with this - I think its the prettiest thing I've ever properly made, and I was even more chuffed when my friend asked me where I'd bought it! Cheesy
5  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Silly Question but... on: July 01, 2008 08:09:23 AM
What is a fat quarter?!

Can anyone tell me how they're defined, and possibly give me metric measurements as well because I cannot get my head around feet inches and yards!
6  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Kitchen Bunting on: June 27, 2008 10:35:40 AM
was my afternoon project today, as I had a load of scrap fabric that needed using up

I have now been bitten by the bug, and so expect that there will soon be bunting in every room of my house!

Sorry I can't show the picture here, but I'm a newbie to Craftster, so haven't been allowed to show pictures yet Sad
7  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Help with a first project on: June 15, 2008 03:48:23 PM

Not only am I a newbie here, but I am a newbie with machine sewing things. I did a bit a couple of years ago, so know the basics, and have borrowed my mum's sewing machine for an undisclosed amount of time (basically til she needs it!). I really want to make a skirt but I'm rubbish at following patterns, so was thinking of making a simple elasticated waist skirt.
Is this going to look any good, or should I try and make a panel skirt instead?
If I should, how do I go about doing it?

Sorry for all the questions and thanks in advance for any help!
