1  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Southern Style Soup Beans with ham hocks on: February 16, 2011 01:52:14 AM
oh my, I love pinto beans and cornbread! My great grandfather brought all of us grand youngins up on them! My favorite way is just like you show in the picture, with onions. Sometimes my family cooks greens (collard or turnip, or both) with them too, and that's really yummy as well!
2  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Re: Marbled Nails on: February 16, 2011 01:30:43 AM

Anyone have any tips for not getting air bubbles like in the last pic?

I read once that shaking the newly painted nail in the water after removing the excess polish will pop any air bubbles, but I've never tried it myself.
3  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / bedroom revamp! making the change from preteen to adult-ish person. on: June 01, 2009 08:53:47 PM
I re-did my room at the age of 13, at the time I was totally girly so I did pepto-bismol pink walls and a purple bedspread, which can be seen here:
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a201/katieiskewt/103_0466.jpg (dont mind the mess, I was 14, I've since learned how to keep thing tidy)
I'm turning 18 in wabout six weeks and I think it's time to take things to a more mature level. I'm thinking something kind of arabian or morrocan, jewel tones and a ton of pillows. Like this:
I'm faced with a few problems:
1. I need a new bed and would like one to match the theme, however I dont really know what type of bed would?
2. The carpet is dreadful! it's hunter green and worn out completely, I'd like to cover it somehow? preferably in an inexpensive way
3. My room is 10x12, is a dark color on my walls going to look bad?
4. I have no clue where to even begin shopping for any of this stuff!

I'm sure this is disorganized and unclear, but any help or ideas that can be given would be much appreciated! I'm doing this by myself with the exception of purchasing a bed.

5  CLOTHING / Designer Clothing Homage / I need help making this Betsey Johnson dress on: April 30, 2009 05:50:54 PM
So after scouring the internet for weeks trying to find this dress in the U.S. somewhere for less than $400 (which didn't happen), My boyfriend's mom said we could try to recreate it. However, I dont have the slightest clue how to go about making the skirt. Any ideas?
6  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: What's your weird guilty pleasure? on: January 19, 2009 04:53:37 PM
when I was a kid I ate peanut butter and mustard sandwiches, I'm not too sure how that came about, but I want to try it again to see if I still like it! lol

now my fav guilty pleasure would probably be Kraft mac n cheese with BullsEye barbecue sauce.
others include:
grits and eggs sandwiches
fried bologna
bacon and maple syrup
cinnimon grahams, peanut butter, and banna or apple

not really a guilty pleasure but my friends think its weird that in our family we eat pinto beans or navy beans with cornbread, turnip greens, and onions all mixed together.
7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Shiny Mess Ring! on: December 16, 2008 07:35:42 PM
I love it!
I think the style would work really well for a pendant as well!
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Knitting at work on: October 24, 2008 10:00:53 PM

I knit at school all the time, though. I pay better attention when my hands are busy, and my teacher doesn't mind if I pay attention and do my written work, first. I get so much knitting work done at school, too. I never have the same amount of motivation at home as I do at school. I knit so much my back started to hurt. :>

Exactly, my teachers prefer my being actually awake and busy knitting in class, than sleeping on my homework (which I find is a constant temptation).
I get odd looks from my classmates, but when I finish a project they all want to hold it and look, lol they're like children!
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / is there a pattern for this? on: October 24, 2008 09:35:03 PM
I simply adore this hat!

does any one know of a pattern that would match?
or at least what size needles to start with?
I cant freehand knit like I can crochet, I have to have a pattern, for decreases and what not.

Thank you!!
