1  The slippers as pure as gold! in Shoes: Completed Projects by clareironbrook on: April 23, 2009 06:59:05 PM
I was recently in a high school production of "Into the Woods", and when Cinderella's gold slippers had to be made, I stepped up and did it!

They started as a pair of "X-Appeal" heels, that I sanded, spray-painted gold, hand-glued each of the stones on, then lacquered and made the bows.
Considering that they were being run around in, then became a prop which was tossed around, fought over, and fed to a person in a cow suit, they held up remarkably well. There was only one big scuff and most of the stones stayed on (the lacquer must have held them on, because they were on with Tacky Glue!)

"The slippers as pure as gold" are now living with the two actresses (one to each)!

2  My first project ever! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by clareironbrook on: March 15, 2009 04:42:00 PM
I finally got brave enough to sew something from a pattern by myself!

This is Simplicity 2750 (view B)- the outside is white denim, and the inside is a cotton print from JoAnn's.

I'm so proud of it Cheesy

3  Giselle- will it work? in Halloween Costumes by clareironbrook on: August 12, 2008 09:06:50 PM
A couple of days ago, I found out that I'm going to be in Disney World in October, when Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is going on- which I've been wishing I could attend for years. Just because it's a Halloween party at one of my favorite places ever. So...I'm really excited. However...I'm very very inexperienced at sewing and I want to have something cool to wear.

I want to be Giselle from 'Enchanted', in the blue curtains dress. I found a dress that could be modified into it, and I think I've figured out how to do it, but I'm looking for some feedback from somebody with experience, to tell me if I can really pull it off this way or not.

I put together a picture:

Thank you Smiley

4  Victorian Rose Hair Clip in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by clareironbrook on: August 01, 2008 09:26:40 PM
I was planning on going to the release party for "Breaking Dawn" and I wanted something cool to wear, so I made this hair clip. I ended up not going, but I love it anyway.

I sewed and hot glued black lace, a pearly cream trim and fake flowers to a piece of plastic canvas, which I glued to a barrette.
