House: Hufflepuff
Project Name & Page Link: Handspun hat
Brief Description: My flying project features lots of loops, since it's knitted.  This is a bulky weight waffle weave hat made with handspun from fiber I got in the Shop the Swap. I have struggled with getting a hat long enough to fully cover my ears, but this one finally works for me.

Project Name & Page Link: Reclaimed Leggings
Brief Description: The "Creative Reuse Center" in my area recently had an event where they had designer samples of all kinds of things that would have just been thrown out that you could take as much as you want for $5.  For fabric, this meant ~1-2 yard cuts of various fabrics with random 4 inch circles cut out (for quality testing).  These leggings are the first thing I've made out of that fabric.  It makes laying out an adventure, but it's worth it - I practically live in these every weekend now.  I also used old waistband elastic from a pair of work pants, so the only "new" thing in these is the thread.  Smiley

Class/Challenge: CoMC
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name & Page Link: Unicorn Batts
Brief Description: After I tested out the waters with neutral fiber that I wouldn't get too attached to if I screwed it up, I went the total opposite direction for my next blending board foray - crazy colors, multiple add-ins, the works.  This is a teal, hot pink and neon green BFL braid that I blended with some black/white/purple alpaca, some darker teal merino, sari silk, firestar (glitter for yarn), and bamboo.  In my head, I use the yarn from these batts to weave matching scarves for all three of my nieces.  Reality complicates this slightly, since I don't actually own a loom, but for whatever reason that's what sticks.  I actually have one bobbin of this spun already, so completed yarn soon to come?
Project Picture:
This about half - I got ~8 batts out of the 4 oz braid + adds.

Class/Challenge: Herbology
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name & Page Link: Green Candle
Brief Description: This was the first time I had come back to candlemaking in....6-8 years?  A lot of the time this session was cleaning out old jars to prep them for future sessions, but I did have one applesauce jar that I had previously cleaned and saved, so I made this green, pine scented candle (honestly, just because the pine scent bar was on the top of the stack when I dragged all the supplies out!  It's green in the color sense, and in the environmental sense, since it's mostly recycled wax from candle stubs.

House: Hufflepuff
Project Name & Page Link: Art Fairy
Brief Description: I watched a Tamara LaPorte video on how to make an "art fairy" to send yourself a message about your art.  Recently I'd been overloaded with my new job, and trying to fit in crafting felt like a job, so I needed the message that it was okay to not craft for a while.  I finished her this morning after starting to dig my craft room out after taking the needed break. Smiley I think this is the happiest I've ever been with a face that I've drawn.

And for Advanced Studies Friday, I've picked my pants pattern to try!

Project Name & Page Link: Sewing Pattern Storage
Brief Description: I have been admiring organized sewing pattern storage for ages, and I finally had a reason to go to a comic book store regularly, which gave me the chance to support a local store for supplies.  Over the course of several weeks, I acquired short comic boxes, 100 boards/bags, and dividers.  Then I went to work pulling out, sorting, and organizing my patterns.  I didn't get rid of a whole lot, but I did make sure that everything I kept had some reasonable chance of being used.  I still have plenty of room in most of the boxes, but I should be able to make much better use of my patterns this way!

My labeller started giving out on me, but there's enough to get the idea of which one's which

I might have been able to squeak a few thing in for the end of Quidditch, had I not started a new job a couple weeks ago.  Oh well - Congrats, Gryffindor!

I love the embroidered shoes!

Class/Challenge: Detention - Stash
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name & Page Link: Chobe Bag from Old Jeans
Brief Description: This is a really cool pattern called the Chobe Bag (originally only in German, but now there's an English one as well) that's designed to be made from old jeans.  I first saw it years ago and immediately started saving jeans, but didn't buy the pattern until this year, solely because of the Love To Do List!  This one was a test of the pattern that was made completely from stash.  I literally cut up rope from the garage (don't tell my husband) for the handle core, and was definitely winging it with some of the notions.  Fabric-wise, I ended up with one pocket and a maybe 18"x6" piece of denim left, and I squeezed the lining out of a piece so small there were no scraps worth saving, which is a good feeling.  This one will end up in the STS, and I've already gathered the notions for my next version, which will be out of gray dress pants with lilac notions and top stitching.  I've got a couple other bag patterns that I picked up recently that are also in queue, but I'm so glad to have this in my "stable" now.  This makes 2 of 10 done on my Love to Do List for the year!

Class/Challenge: Quidditch Round 2 - Keeper
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name & Page Link: Neutral Long Draw Rolags
Brief Description: This is my first Love To Do project completed!  This is 354 yards of neutral wools + alpaca made from rolags that I made myself on my blending board.  It was one and a half full fills of my 8 oz bulky plyer flyer, so I was definitely in one spot for quite a while!  I specifically chose neutrals for my first go so that I wouldn't get too attached to something beautifully colored and get precious about it, but it does mean that whatever I make from it now will go with lots of different things!  I was hoping to get enough yardage for a small cardi, but I still need to figure out my wpi and see where I came out at.

So a broken big toe put me out of commission for a little while, but I'm limping out onto the field...

Class/Challenge: Quidditch Warm Up
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name & Page Link: ATC batch
Brief Description: I keep a set of ATC backgrounds made up and have a specific little drawer with appropriate sized embellishments for them, because they are the perfect "warm up", "I don't know what I want to make today", "everything else in my craft room is a disaster" craft.  No real theme, just getting back into the swing of things.
