31  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / insert name here quilt on: December 07, 2012 08:02:07 PM
I know about 8 pregnant people right now and am on mat leave myself with a 5 month old.  Surprisingly, I was able  to complete a quilt.  Its a chunky modern quilt and I love modern but always feel guilty if its not intricate.  its like I'm cheating.

Anyway, I had this panel of 8 animals and it was too much for one quilt.  I had a hard time coming up with a pattern for a rectangular quilt (my brain always seems to turn out square baby quilts o_O).  Finally, MareMare provided the answer

I have the second quilt to finish.  Up to the top and the back being done, they were done in tandem.  But the first shower was coming up so I had to get one done.  Now I need to muster the patience for the second (I'm not one for repeating the same work twice).

The second is the same pattern with different animals. Wish I did more quilting but until plan that better, this is all she gets!

Thoughts?

Absolutely love it!
33  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / Re: what do you think? i need feedback! on: November 16, 2012 04:27:20 AM
You make nice stuff.

The one recommendation for your etsy shop that I have is to change your images.  They're very washed out because the background blends with the product.  I didn't know what I was looking at in some of them before I clicked.  And normally, I wouldn't have clicked because I just didn't see anything intriguing because of the blending.

Don't really know what to say about the craft sales.  Good luck!

My son is four months old now and I just finished his quilt. It was started while I was pregnant but I was affected by carpel tunnel pretty bad when the warm weather hit.  I'm still missing feeling in a couple finger tips!

However, I managed to finish his quilt.  Its the Magic Tile (or is it Magic Window?) pattern.  Once I saw the pieces getting really small, I decided not to do 9 cuts per block and stopped at four. The back is a panel and I added the rest around it.  The martians are fussy cut. I paid to get it machine quilted because I wanted it to be better than straight lines Cheesy

Today I enjoy its completion for tomorrow it will be covered in spit up and drool.

39  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Re: what should the primary paint be? on: September 17, 2012 03:44:48 PM
That's a very nice yellow.  Right now I'm leaning towards Himilayan Morning which is on the same page as yours, second row, 5th from the right.  Its a little more green but I think I would be happier in the long run with it.

I find it doesn't look the same on the computer as it does on the chip though.  And I've tried different computers.  Unfortunate.

I will look for yours when I return.  I have a huge stockpile of yellow samples from all over.
