1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Dodos! on: April 02, 2011 02:40:41 PM
So I know that when the Hoopla swap gallery starts up, this board fills up too. But I wanted to share my hoops that I made for jungrrl.
A lot of work (and cussing) went into these hoops.
Mostly because it's really hard to find a good picture of a Dodo to use for reference, let alone a baby Dodo, haha. I spent many hours sketching out a baby Dodo attempting to make it look real and like it would have actually come from the adult Dodo and not a cartoon, ha.

So this is what I came up with. I did lots of blending with multiple colors of floss and did just the slightest amount of tinting.
It was my first time tinting (I used colored pencils) and I am very happy with the way it came out!

Hope you like them.  Smiley

And the two together...

2  UNITED STATES / Minnesota / Johnstock Craft Fair looking for vendors! on: February 23, 2011 03:26:07 PM
Hello all - it's that time of year again - when we start planning our art fair schedule!

I'm attaching the link for Johnstock - held on the same weekend as Art-A-Whirl. There is a bus and trolley stop on the Art--Whirl route for us, and it's a well established fair with a growing attendance each year.

Here is a little bit of information about the show, and then included on that page is the link for the application.

Hope to see you there.
You can comment here or pm me with any questions.

3  UNITED STATES / Minnesota / Expired Film - Minneapolis on: September 14, 2010 08:51:35 PM
Hey there, I'm in Minneapolis and I just found a big bag of expired film in the basement - mixed 35mm and 120, both black and white and color and all speeds from 50 to 3200. Maybe even from E6 in there!

The lower speeds should be just fine, though I'm a little skeptical about the faster speeds.

Anyone interested? Keep in mind that it would be experimental only, I cannot guarantee any quality.

If you are interested, drop me a PM.
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / My incredibly comfy summer dress on: July 15, 2010 06:43:54 PM
I found this beautiful green jersey and I immediately knew what it was to become...well sort of, haha.
This is the result of a day in my sewing room - sewing and trying on and sewing and trying on...
I made the pattern up as I went - fitting it to exactly what I wanted.

It's just insanely comfortable and so nice to wear.

Please excuse my grimace  Undecided

5  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Winter Embroidery on: January 19, 2010 07:49:03 PM
So I did this piece for the next window we are doing in the craft shop I work at. Since we're in Minnesota, it seemed that "Winter" was a good theme for us.

It's in a 10 inch hoop, and the art is from Urban Threads.

I really love this piece - I've been wanting to stitch it for a while, glad that I finally had a reason to - rather than just wanting i, ha.
I just wanted to share it with everyone.

EDIT: Updated picture with boots filled in!

8  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / woman of the moon? on: June 04, 2009 07:58:40 PM
this is an embroidery i did for one of my bags for my store. i just love the way it turned out. the stitches are super simple - i didn't want to over complicate it.

(i don't have pics of the entire bag, it's not entirely connected yet, but i loved this too much to not post it.)

comments? criticism?

9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Sewing Pinup and Harley Quinn on: May 08, 2009 05:59:48 PM
Hello! I wanted to post these 2 towels that I am super proud of. I did these for my partner for the most recent Embroidered Tea Towel Swap.

10  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / designs for bags for my store (pic heavy) on: April 12, 2009 07:23:04 PM
hello, i thought i would share a few of the designs i have created for the my bags. they are mostly basic and line art - most people don't want to pay for the bigger more time consuming pieces, heh.

and forgive me for the photos, they were taken with my old camera, which was on its way out, and most of them have been sold.

let me know what you think of them, enjoy!
