1  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / jester type hat? on: December 05, 2009 08:24:59 AM

Thanks so much!
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / I'm looking for Fleece liners for Crocs (or croc knock-offs) on: November 10, 2008 07:58:47 AM
I would love to find a pattern to make some fleece liner for my crocs. Or even just a DIY tute somewhere, I am sure it can't be that hard.... I love the winter crocs, but I don't want to buy another pair if I can just make some liners. I did find this website that sells them http://www.tabajacks.com/indexnew.html Any ideas from my fellow Craftsters???
My toes will thank you!
3  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Nature Fairy Costume - ideas anyone? on: September 14, 2008 06:56:53 AM
So I had this neat idea to be a Nature Fairy for Halloween. Kind of a mix of Mother Nature, a hippie, and of course fairy wings and a wand. I'm thinking tea dye tan (like unbleached muslin) and green for colors of the dress (or skirt and shirt) wings made using ThreadBanger's tutorial, and a fancied up stick from my yard as a wand. I am not planning any shoes, as I normally go barefoot everywhere anyway, and I think that would fit in with the costume theme. Fake plants and flowers, something on my head (a wreath crown?)
Any ideas? Got a dress/shirt/shirt idea that would be perfect? Is there anything that I HAVE to make sure to include?
4  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Homemade Face Paint???? on: September 17, 2007 06:00:47 AM
Ok, my hubby decided this year for the Halloween contest at our campgrounds, our family (2 adults and 4 kids) should dress up as the "Evil Clown Family" due to our love of ICP (Insane Clown Posse) My problem is, I can't wear the normal halloween greasy makeup. Are there any good recipes for home made makeup that is not greasy? My sister said she sometimes uses kids poster paint but it can get flaky.... Maybe there is a better (not too expensive) make-up that is NON-greasy? Our halloween party is Sept. 22 so we don't have much time to get ready...

On a sorta related note - Did you know Violent J and Shaggy started painting their faces with shoe polish when they first started out and were really broke? Now they mail-order KRYOLAN Professional Makeup http://www.kryolan.com

BTW, if you have ever done a Jugglalo/ICP costume before (even just for a concert  Wink ) please feel free to post pics and any tips you may have, this is a first for us!

Thanks for any help!!!!

5  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Christmas Scarf idea on: December 04, 2006 05:34:15 AM
Ok, I just had a brainy idea! My 6 year old son wanted a Christmas tree hat last year but I didn't like any of the crocheted patterns I found, they all were just a cone hat made in green and decorations added on later. So my MIL ended up knitting him a hat. It is the only pattern we could find with points.... As he left for school his morning I realized he needs a scarf to go with his hat; a Santa scarf perhaps? And then it hit me... what goes UNDER a Christmas tree??? PRESENTS of course! Now how hard can it be to make a scarf look like a bunch of gifts? I'm thinking squares with stripes for the ribbons and adding on a bow after for a 3D look.... what do you think? Any other ideas?
6  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Help converting knit to crochet pattern (pink hair from Knitty) on: July 29, 2006 11:50:14 AM
Ok, so my 4 year old daughter wants to be Stephanie from Lazy Town for Halloween this year (yes I know it's early) Here is a blurb and pick of Stephanie: http://www.lazytown.com/about/property/stephanie As you can see, she has PINK hair just like this http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall04/PATThallowig.html BUT I don't knit... can any body give me even a rough idea of how to crochet this PINK hair?

Thanks for any help!

8  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Old computer keyboards on: October 30, 2005 07:39:55 AM
I have a few of these laying around. I was thinking of taking the numbers off and using them on a clock. Using the letters and putting magnets on the back and then put on the fridge or something (like kids magnetic letters)

Any other ideas???

9  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / A dead 17 inch flat screen LCD moniter on: October 30, 2005 07:33:26 AM
This monitor is dead, but there has to be something I can do with it?Huh?? The light still works, it turns on and everything but the display is all garbled. I was told it isn't worth it to have it fixed... IF it could be fixed.....
