22  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / because every girl needs a little black dress(pic slightly chubby) on: October 19, 2008 11:01:26 AM
"every woman should own a little black dress"

yuss gok wan, i agree!

seeing as i am low on funds(i have 50 quid but little black dresses arent always as cheap as i wish) i made one.

it started out as a skirt for my costume(best of british sketch show.we are taking it to germany to our partner school to celebrate 30 yrs being partner cities) and became my new little black dress. i am thinking of dressing it down with an open white shirt and black tights.

i also quite like the neckline.alot

back(taking photos of your own back is hard!)

the bow is a tad wonky in the pics but i love it anyway.
logically,i should wear this to the awards ceremony but i like the beano one(https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=274360.0).it is more original.

c+c welcome and appreciated!

25  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / 18th century(ish) admiral style coat help!! on: October 05, 2008 10:46:23 AM
i am in a show(rehurslals just started) at school.

the voyage of the sloop john b(yes like the beach boys song.the director wrote it)(not the song.the play.but he did write some songs in it).

basically a boy and girl in love. girl is going away for two years to be a ships doctor on a boat with her grandpa.

boy is distraught so he trys to follow and gets on wrong boat.

gets on all women boat(the sloop john b.all the men ran off for the gold rush)

trys to follow girl.

much madness ensues as others chase girl and others chase boy.

i am the boys mother, senator lanscombe.me and my sidekick are chasing him along with a showgirl and her assistant who are being chased by jaque de la blatte.

so yeah.
i was thinking of having a coat a bit like this one
for part of my costume and was wondering where i could-
*find one
*find something that could easily be altered
*or find a fairly simple pattern to make one

i would prefer to find one to alter.if that is easiest, what type of coat should i start with?

i know adding badges will help(i have a medal style badge allready and can make more)

but im at my wits end as to where to find one!!

help is appreciated!

26  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / new room-boudoir? on: September 01, 2008 02:07:55 PM
Okay, so im doing an overhaul of my room. im 15 and spend a lot of time in there.
I'm thinking a parisian boudoir theme...
I have some key-words and photos and any help is appreciated!
p.s any pictures of boudoir style furniture or the like that you can offer would be great!

first some words!
-Pink and black
-pink on larger walls, black on smaller walls
-animal prints(zebra,lepord etc)
-Furniture in black and pink
-gold accent colour(handles,drawers,frames etc)
-new desk chair(currently a manky old wheely chair)
-GET RID OF LOTS OF STUFF!(my room is very cluttered and always messy.i want to get rid of as much as possible)
-proper wardrobe or some shelves under current pole(to hang things) and black curtain accross front
-new lampshade on main light
-dark curtains
-canopy over bed
-audrey hepburn
-marylin monroe
-moulin rouge
-silk and other luxurios fabrics

and now some pics!

i like these fabrics but not the colour of the purple(flash made it bluey) just the texture

my tiara collection

a jewlery holder(i think this very well helps to sum up the kind of feel i want)

an authentic masquerade mask my parents got me when they went to venice

help appreciated!

29  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / from ebay-bought posters to fancy framed art pieces on: August 31, 2008 01:56:20 PM
our family are fans of the clash.

my parents used to be punks.

nuff said.

my dad got two posters of the clash off ebay then framed them

we use the frame of this one to keep gig tickets in and underneath is setlists nabbed from the stage or from my brother or dads gigs

this one is above our ancient vox amp i use for my bass guitar.

it's nice to be 15 and have ex-punks for parents.and an eccentric family.things in our house are very.....

30  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / What a crafty kitchen looks like! on: August 31, 2008 01:48:27 PM
being a very DIY family our kitchen just HAD to be very...individual.

my mum did the tiling.it goes around the kitchen half of the room(we have a breakfast bar in the middle and use the other half as dining room/drum,bass and guitar room)

my brother did a nice little painting of his friend from college(high school ot americans) 'crab eyes'

my dad is forgetting stuff now he is middle aged(lol) and so is the rest of the family. to remedy this me and my mum took a blackboard and made a boarder from lentils, beans and pasta to make it 'kitcheny'.

a close-up of the boarder.

thanks for looking!
