2  U.K. AND IRELAND / ENGLAND / Manchester Craftster meet :Edited: on: May 27, 2009 09:17:07 PM
Hiya guys :-)

I was wondering if anyone would be intrested in a craftster meet this summer, it'll be when college/school or whatever gets out or a saturday in the next few weeks.

- Date suggestions: either the 20th of june, 27th of june or anywhere between (I wanna find a day where the most people would be free, it would be cool to meet 1 or 2 new people but more would be cooler lol)

- how many people would be intersted in coming? (I will continue to edit this post with a list of names and weather or not your coming (so like [name-maybe] and such)

-I was thinking we could all meet near the big fountain in picadilly (we should plan on bringing something so we can pick each other out of the crowd lol).

This is my first time organising a meet type thing so if anyone wants to help me organise that would be cool :-)

:-) thats all really umm.....if anyones intrested in a meet up i'd be more than happy
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Glasses case with pattern :-) on: May 27, 2009 02:45:00 PM

I made me a glasses case just cuz lol :-) I also wrote a pattern for it just incase anyone wants to have a go at it.

Glasses Case Pattern :-)

I Used Soya Yarn and 4mm (UK) needles, but Im pretty sure this pattern will work using any sized yarn and needles.

This pattern is for quite slim glasses but if you have larger glasses or even sunglasses, you just need to cast on a few more stitches to make it wider so your glasses will fit, anyways onto the pattern! :-)

Cast on 12 st (or cast on until your work is a little wider than your glasses)

Flap(the closey bit lol)

Row 1: Knit all st

Row 2: Purl all st

Row 3: Knit all st

Row 4: K1, P1 *K1, P1* Repeat from * end row K1

Repeat rows 1-4, 4-5 times.

Main body

Row 1: K1,* Knit into the back of the 2nd st keeping the stitch on the needle,Knit the 1st st, slip both st off needle* repeat from * end row K1.

Row 2: K1, *Knit into Front of 2nd st, Knit the 1st st, slip both st off needle* Repeat from * end row K1

Repeat rows 1 and 2 until knitting is about 24cm long (not counting the flap), cast off, sew a snappy button to flap and top of fabric, fold so right side is facing each other, sew seams turn right side out, and your done :-D

Sorry if the end bits a little confusing, this is my first knitting pattern, I hope you get it if you dont I can come back and try again. Have fun! Id love too see the glasses cases you produce!

5  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / I Think I Killed it :-\ on: May 21, 2009 05:38:15 PM
I think I broke my sewing machine :-s I'm not really sure though I'm kind of a sewing machine noob so yeah......

Basically My machine got stuck a few month back and while unjamming it I think I broke a needle and it got stuck in there (thats the worse case).

Anyways Its not picking up the bobbin and the thread uptop isn't moving one bit all the bits that are suppost to move do it seems fine other than the face it won't sew :-/ I hope i explained well enough I'm Kinda bad at this just wondering if you guys have any clue what I might have done I don't wanna have to take it to the shop.

Thanks for any help if I've explained badly I'll be happy to answer any questions that'll make the problem clear.....
6  KNITTING / Knitalongs / boob hats anyone? on: April 03, 2009 02:03:56 PM
ok so me and me freind have decided to make it out mission this summer to knit (or crochet whichever you prefer) a boob hat  Cheesy this'll be our first hat also.

We won't really be following a pattern, maybe editing a hat pattern to include a nipple i dunno , its gonna be mostly freestyle.

It doesn't really matter how you get there just so long as you end up with a boob on your head XD.

Soo does anyone wanna join us in the magical mission to create probably the most awesome hat in history?
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Knitted Baseball cap O.O? on: March 31, 2009 08:34:20 AM
Sooooo, I'm currently in my first year of uni yay!.............I totally messed up aww  Sad.............then out of no where my teacher comes up with a solution and even says he'll help me get onto textiles next year Cheesy!

I've decided because he is the most awesome teacher I've ever had (the only things i've learnt this year that have stuck have been in his class) and because he is just all round cool (gotta love a teacher who know who system of a down are XD) That he deserves (sp?) a thankyou for saving me and steering my life where i want it to go when i thought i was screwed present.

He wears a baseball cap ALL the time  Cheesy so i figured he would find it kinda lolsum and cool if he had a knitted one.

The thing is i'm kinda new to this knitting lark, I've only just mastered decreasing and I've only really finished one project sucessfully, so my question is, does anyone know how i would go about starting a project like this? I really really wanna do it, I found one pattern but it involves knitting in the round which is just beyond me atm.

Anyways rant over lol, if anyone can help me with this it would be brilliant and i'll love you forever and ever lol Roll Eyes.

Thanks for any help in advanced.

I moved to Preston for uni in september and have managed to make no freinds due to my hermit like ways lol, I was thinking maybe i should try and find some people who live in Preston that might like to meet up somewhere and do a bit of knitting/ hang out i dunno lol.

I was also wondering if anyone that lives in the Manchester area would like to have a crafty related meet up over the summer holidays?
