1  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / High Chair seat cover on: April 03, 2010 02:08:38 PM
So I know this technically isnt clothing, but I did sew it and it is for my 8 month old daughter.
The seat cover that was previously on her high chair was cheap and heat sealed at the edges, so it started to come apart pretty quickly (plus, it use to be my sons, so its been well loved)
I set out to look for materials that would be an easy clean up without me having to throw it in the washing machine.
I came across a kids shower curtain (on clearance...yes, SCORE!)  that is clear vinyl w/cute animal print. But I knew i needed a backing, so I took the foam cushioning out of the old seat cover and added in a layer of green w/wht star rib knit fabric that I already had laying around the house. And Voila!!!!
Aside from the fact that I knew I couldnt screw up on this project; because lets face it folks, vinyl is not forgiving, it turned out really well. The bottom is uneven, but its just gonna get covered in baby food anyway, so who cares. It fits the chair well and is super cute. I'm not into all the super girly colors, so i'm glad it turned out more gender nuetral.

Let me know what you think

I think that show is so creepy... but the kids love it!  They'd love those shirts too.  Very cute!

Well, the show is made by KidRobot (dont know if you are familiar with that company)
& I really like most the products they make. This is the first child related endevour they have done, everything else is all adult. But to me, honestly, its not any creeepier than Mr. Rogers. I use to always wonder why my mom hated when I watched him as a child & now going back to watch his show, I see why!

But thanks for the compliments everyone!!

7  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects / Re: Hamsas to protect our home... on: November 14, 2008 07:10:26 PM
These are really nice. I use to work for a lady that did folk art that included lots of judaica, I had to help her paint a ton of Hamsas!!! I'm so glad I actually recognized what these where (because I'm not jewish)......but these do look really awesome!

Another recon from my husbands old shirt. This time I used part of an old green tank top of mine for Brobees head, as well as other remnants laying around......& voila!!!! Brobee from Yo Gabba Gabba

my son got so excited when he actually recognized the character on his shirt!!

& here is the Muno shirt I posted a few days ago.....just thought I should group them together
9  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Re: Toddler Boy T-shirts Recon using my hubby's old shirts...yo gabba gabba on: November 13, 2008 02:43:47 PM
Thanks for the tips, I do usually try to use the same neckline form the original shirt, but ocassionally it cannot be salvaged. And I have also foudn thru trial and error that I need a little more fabric for the neckline that suggested...plus my child has a big head (no lie) and thick hair, which at times can be quite troublesome to pull a shirt over his head.
