1  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: Oppie The Octopus - Free Pattern on: April 18, 2011 10:33:16 AM
I thought it might be ... in all the US-UK conversion charts I own, not one tells me what a UK SC is. Thank you much!

(A buddy of mine sent me this pattern with a request for two. And once they see the pattern, my three nieces are gonna want Oppie as well.)

Question: is this a US or a UK pattern? (I'm US, so I might need to convert.) Thanks!
3  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / ISO big cactus pattern on: January 27, 2009 06:52:13 AM
My little brother wants me to crochet him a cactus.

Not a "little wussy one" (his words), but a "manly" one.

A big saguaro-type one. Like six feet tall.

Any idea where I can even start? I shudder to think how much fiberfill will be required for this.
4  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: NeedleNoodles sushi: anyone else try this yet? on: January 14, 2009 03:15:56 PM
Made four pieces and ditched. I can't make the stitch counts come out right for love or money.

Ah, well, back to the v-stitch shell afghan! That I know I can do.
5  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Stinky Yarn! on: January 11, 2009 10:56:23 AM
Hmmm ... I wonder if Yarn Wash would work for the cheap acrylics I got at Hobby Lobby that seem to be covered in Houston Storage Funk. They are SOOOO musty!
6  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: How do you store your yarn? on: January 11, 2009 10:50:29 AM
Yarn in big Ziploc bags, by manufacturer.

Bags in baskets from Hobby Lobby, Michaels, and Target.

Baskets on top of the entertainment center and the surrounding speakers. (And on the couch, but we'll overlook that one.)

Current basket count: seven, all overflowing.

I'm embarking on it, and must admit I find it a bit daunting ... any words of wisdom?

FWIW, I've been crocheting for a year, year and a half, something like that. I'm no novice, but definitely no expert.

He is so cute! Now I gotta stop by Michaels on the way home and get some melon-colored yarn for my husband's Dr. Zoidberg.
9  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: Creepy Cute Crochet-along? on: June 17, 2008 10:45:35 AM
Problem is, I like the way the small yarn/E hook works up. I just want the overall thing to be bigger.

So while I'm on this thread, it never hurts to ask ... anyone know a quick and dirty way to enlarge a pattern? The fez-monkey needs to be bigger to appease Ed.
