1  Clutches of clutches: silk, houndstooth and salvaged curtains!!! :D in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by lustinthemovies on: November 02, 2009 11:18:23 AM
I'm still on the 'there arent enough outrageous clutch bags in the world' train of thought so I've whipped up three more. God knows what im going to do with them all! :p

This one is very similar to one I made a while back for a friend's birthday. Its chinese silk (absolutely horrendous to work with if you dont get the interfacing attached properly - it frays everywhere!) with a black lining and magnetic clasp. Ive also added D rings on either side because there are removable shoulder/wrist straps not shown in the picture.

This one I absolutely love, the asymetric pattern i think works really well and the fabric is just outrageous. It used to be a pair of gaudy curtains in a friends house which were just going to get thrown away. Whilst I agree that its perhaps a bit TOO outrageous for curtains, the fabric was too fabulous to go to waste. In fact I dont think this photo really does justice to it - its actually quite a dark almost blacky colour in the background, with gorgeous sparkly green embroidery all over it. The lining/clasp/D ring info is as above Smiley

I'm thinking about maybe adding some bronze buttons near the point - what do people think?

Finally (another) houndstooth one. I thought to combat the hedonistic fit i had over the green bag, i would make something a bit more cutesy that i could use during the day. The strap on this one is attached, because its a little bit smaller than the others i didnt think i would ever really want to use a shoulder strap with it.

Anyway as always, absolutely ALL comments/ criticism/ unwarranted compliments welcome and positively encouraged Smiley Smiley Smiley

2  Procrastination means clutch bags! :) in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by lustinthemovies on: February 24, 2009 07:32:48 AM

I am at present meant to be doing my contract law reading....so obviously I just finished off another clutch bag I was making and decided to post it on here. What do we think? I would love some feedback. Personally I think its adorably tacky in a kind of cutsey retro kind of way, but that could just be me. If its actually hideous please do let me know :p

Oringianlly it was just going to be a plain clutch but it looked a bit plain with the less than glam fabric so I thought the bow would add a bit of interest (although I'm not overly happy with how its sitting on the fabric).

Comments and critisism always welcome Smiley

3  Layered pixie skirt made from scraps I had lying around in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by lustinthemovies on: February 21, 2009 06:41:56 AM

Just something I russled together over the last week or so. I'm quite pleased with how it came out considering its the first skirt i've ever made withou an elasticated waist and I didn't make a pattern or anything, just winged it. The top layer is houndstooth check and then underlayer is black velvet.

Comments and critique always welcome Smiley

4  Clutch bag made from the Bag Bazaar excerpt instructions :) in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by lustinthemovies on: December 22, 2008 01:22:13 PM
I never know what to get my best friend for Christmas/birthday/anything, so I thought what better than something handmade of course? :p She's a bit of a handbag fiend but I don't seem to remember her having a nice little evening bag for when we go out, so it was pretty convenient to find instructions for a clutch bag in one of the sponsored excerpts Cheesy I followed the instructions pretty much exactly except for adding a little wrist strap (I find clutch bags that you have to literally 'clutch' really annoying).

I found it very easy to use, if anyone is thinking about giving it a go i highly recommend it, I probably threw it together in less than two hours crafting time (though there were considerable gaps caused by lack of transport to the fabric store :p).

Anywho this is my first bag so let me know what you think Cheesy
Happy Holidays everyone xxx#

Chinese satin exterior

Black velvet interior

5  Funky skull skirt from 1.50 scarf. in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by lustinthemovies on: October 08, 2008 03:46:46 AM

Got this funky sugar skull scarf on sale in H&M ridiculously cheaply and I just thought the fabric was so adorable it had to become something less mundane than a scarf. So I created a little underskirt since the fabric was pretty seethough and cut the wiast in it off centre so it can either be worn so its longer at the back, or at one side.

What do you think guys? Smiley

6  Pink tulle fairy skirt in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by lustinthemovies on: September 19, 2008 12:09:10 PM

Well here it is Smiley Basically my aunty gave me the material left over from making my sisters prom dress, and ive been meaning to do something with it for ages. So i decided i wanted to make myself a tutu skirt for my more off the wall moments. However I made it waaay to short and when I got it on i decided i looked a little bit too much like ....i dont know what lol. So the highly elastic waist has now been altered for it to fit a little girl. I thought when i looked at it it looked like it should be in the kids section of woolworths so it was only appropriate really.

As always any comments and feedback greatly appreciated

8  Dresden dolls stencilled tank top in Stenciling: Completed Projects by lustinthemovies on: September 06, 2008 03:58:36 PM
Made for a recent swap, i was really pleased with how this turned out, got very minimal bleeding on the stencil. I made the stencil myself although the design is highjacked from dresden dolls album art, and just filled it in with standard acrylic and fabric medium.
