with all the practice bag talk, I had to get in on the action as well...... here are the two I made lastnight, one with an applique just to see what it would look like on the other side..... I wanted to use up some scraps, so they are a little scrappy, but the pattern is the same... actually the handles on the green and white one are a little bit longer..... I guess I really wanted to do the french seam thing....

here is a close up of both sides of the applique, I sewed the middle of the flower on before sewing it on to the bag (less to show on the inside of the bag) ..... I think it turned out just fine without the bag being lined

and another view, just because

yea! for practice bags.... I think I am going to keep the green and white one and give the other one to a coworker

33  odd scraps...to happy scrappy hatty in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by onegroovyday on: December 14, 2011 08:18:17 PM
I made this hat a few months ago for rlynn, actually her daughter, in the Pinterest Swap... rlynn had a "scrappy" hat, made out of t-shirts pinned for her... I took this idea and ran with it... 99% of this hat is made from recycled/reclaimed items ... I tried to tie in some of her daughters favorite themes... It was one of those projects that when I started I had NO IDEA where I was going with it or what the end result was going to be.....I'm pretty happy with the way it came out, and it is definitely a one of a kind....

here are some up close shots of the embroidery, applique, and other do-dads that found their way onto this hat

the ear flaps.... the little blue bird is the one thing that i actually cut from a piece of fabric... and the "life is good" dude... the original t-shirt was trashed a long time ago, but I couldn't just throw him out

a rainbow and a pirate... the pirate also has a little treasure map embroidered around it, with a palmtree and island... and ofcourse the "X" to mark the spot ..both made from scraps of old sweatshirts

and I couldn't resist elephants and batman..... again, scraps from an old sweatshit... and the elephant is a felted sweater

robot and owl...

thanks for looking!!

35  Fab Fabric Rings in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by onegroovyday on: November 21, 2011 06:19:13 PM
I just signed up for the FABRIC JEWELRY SWAP https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=395855.0   and thought while I was waiting for partner day I would try making some fabric rings.....here is what I came up with....

I started off by machine sewing the strips of fabric... start with the strips double the length that you will need so that you don't have the starting and ending of the thread showing on the finished ring.. because the strips are so skinny, the feed dogs had a hard time .... By the second one i realized that it helped if I left enough behind the foot to hold on to and pull it a little if it wasn't feeding itself ......I then trimmed them to the size I needed and used fabric glue... after the glue dried I added the embellishments....I think the next time I would do all the little detail before i glued them.....I did a blanket stitch around 2 of them to reinforce the ends I had glued... and the other ones I used invisible thread to sew the ends together.

I think that my favorite is the green one with the little bead flower ....

thanks for looking!!!

are you guys all ready to wish you were me, or at least have gotten the package I got from Leslieshappyheart.... it seriously ROCKS... love it all!!

first up, the one thing I actually knew about.....throw pillows...

and look how well they match everything else..... it was like Leslie was sitting on my couch when she picked out the fabric

my dog approves as well

and some close up shots of the scrappy goodness

a wonderful mug rug, which I can never have enough of.... not sure if I am going to use it under my french press or on the table next to the chair I sit in when doing those sit down projects

and the back is as awesome as the front

and as if that wasn't enough.... look at the amazing needle book

wait, wait, wait ....there is still more

i collect mini bumperstickers, and when I found out that Leslies daughter goes to school right where I used to live.... well, had to have to see if she would send me some.....and ya gotta love my button.... GET EXCITED AND MAKE STUFF.. the story of my life!!

nope that's not everything yet!!!..... I commented on how much I liked the bracelet that Leslie made for wendiek.... and I got my own... and it FITS!!!!!... LIFE IS GOOD.... best way to look at life.... the grass is NEVER greener on the other side....

Leslie... you spoiled me ROTTEN.... i am so happy we were partners.... everything is perfect, wonderful, amazing, and the colors you picked are THE BEST.... thankyou so so so so so much.... I just hope you like what I have made for you half as much as I love what you created for me....

I guess I should go PM you  and let you know i got it... I was just so happy with everything that I had to share with all of our fellow scrappers first...

39  A rainbow twirleeeeee dress...picture heavy!! in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by onegroovyday on: November 14, 2011 04:55:48 PM
I haven't posted many projects in the past few months and figured I would take some time and share a few of the things I have done...

I made this rainbow twirly dress for pjherbert's darling GD a few months ago....it took a while,OK maybe a LONG while, but totally worth it.....100 or so 3x3 squares out of 75 or so different fabrics....and believe it or not... had it all in my stash!!!

close ups of some of the detail

was quite happy with the way buttons matched, and to think I already had them as well

all of the seams were serged after sewing it together

and a few other action shots... my little model had a blast running around in her twirly rainbow dress...

thanks for looking!!!....
