1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: advice on dying my dress on: September 19, 2011 09:26:39 AM
ah well the red was just an example, I don't really want to dye it red...as with the hearts not being visable I meant if I pre-dyed the garment they would dissappear, I was hoping to dye it burgundy...but I think now I'm going to go for a mustard colour by dying a terracotta brown dye over the yellow dres - hopefully that should work  Huh
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / advice on dying my dress on: September 17, 2011 03:00:47 AM
First things first, I don't know if this is the right place for this so please feel free to move it!

I bought a dress a little while ago, the shape is lovely and it has the cutest little black heart shaped polka dots....but it's yellow, bright yellow.
I'm really not sure I'm a yellow person, atleast not bright yellow anyway. So I figured I could dye it...but here lies my problem. I've only ever dyed white clothes before, and after reading it would appear that the yellow would show through, so if I tried to dye it blue it would come out green and if I tried to dye it red it would come out orange...not really what I want! I read that pre-dying would be the answer to my problems, but I don't want to lose my lovely little polka-hearts - they're my favourite bit of the dress!

So what I wanted to ask is, do I have any other options? Am I going to have to sacrafice a decent colour for cute polka dots, or sacrafice my polka dots for a decent colour...Basically I want to have my cake and eat it Sad

does anyone know what it should look like?? i'm on my 5th row now and from the pictures of the finished item it looks like the bit i'm doing should be straight...but it's growing wider every row, should it be doing this? or am i doing it wrong??

8  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / help me fathom out this pattern on: June 15, 2011 08:11:18 AM
right so in my head i was a fairly good crocheter, i could read and understand patterns really well...until i came across this http://sites.google.com/site/groovycrochet/home/woodstock-vest
now i have a couple of questions:
1) tc is triple crochet right? would you say it's a uk triple crochet or a us triple crochet?
2) what does '2 tc under ch-2 space' mean??

although i may come back for more...
