1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Ongoing Offer What You Have Swap - Discussion Thread on: June 24, 2012 02:03:43 PM
I'm coming in a little late, but I have so much fabric to offer! Excited!
2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Zombie Valentine on: February 17, 2011 06:27:06 PM
This is my first time posting a project in the needlework category! Also the first project I've done that was so involved. I've only ever stitched letters and words on things, and usually all in the same color.

Here it is!

Detail shot:

I designed and drew it myself. It is done entirely in split stitch, as it was the only stitch I knew at the time. By at the time, I mean 2-3 weeks ago. I just learned satin stitch.

I'm not in love with the way the black eye turned out, but I think it's not bad for a first try.

C&C always welcome!
3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Embroidery stiches that look like lace on: February 17, 2011 04:50:50 PM
I'm embroidering a wedding portrait, and I've hit a roadblock with the dress. I want to make it really ornate, but I want to stick to thread, i.e. no beading or appliques. I've looked into tatting and needle lace, but I don't think that is what I'm looking for.

So, are there any embroidery stitches that can make something look like lace?

Mad satin stitch skills, especially for your first project!

Making granny squares out of my pistachio yarn. Thanks again, Shan-E-Bear!
I think we should post what we make from our yarn.

I received!! Here's everything!

The beginning:

Boyfriend wanted to participate. He unwound while I wound.

The first item!

Next, a fat quarter!

Another fat quarter.

Next popped out an awesome pouch with embroidery thread inside. I looked inside and found two ear cuffs! This is exactly how it went down:
"Wow, what an awesome pouch!"
*Found first earcuff*
"Oh, she totally faked me out"
*Found second ear cuff*
"Oh my god. There's another one!"

Next, some dark blue yarn and a pin cushion. Totally needed one of these!

Then, I found a wrap skirt from Africa! I sooooo love this!!!

Finally, a bag with Ecuador's flag colors on it aka the Colombian flag. Wink

And here's all the loot!

I love everything! Thank you so much!!  Grin
