2  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects / Re: Doctor Who T-shirts - tracing with Sharpies! :D on: October 07, 2008 09:19:37 AM
Want! These are awesome, and I very much respect your resourcefulness, and Sharpie-ing abilities.
I am watching Doctor Who right now, so when I saw the TARDIS I had to check it out, the Dalek was just an extra, little surprise.
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Help -- Ideas for Too-Small Felted Purse on: August 30, 2008 10:20:52 PM
lampshade? wool is naturally flame retardant, so it should be safe. you could line the inside with a reflective material so the light would be directed down (for a desk lamp or) or you could make the lamp so the light is directed out of the top. you could use a modern chrome type base as contrast or make a knitting theme by sharpening dowel rods to make needles and  attaching them to a lamp base.  Undecided  the sections look so good together it would be a shame to chop it up, but it certainly deserves to become something!
4  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: toddler and infant costume ideas???? on: August 24, 2008 08:37:49 PM
What about Dorothy and the yellow brick road?
Jack and the beanstock (green sweats with fake leaves) ; Dish and the spoon (Hey diddle diddle)-or a cat and fiddle (a violin on a onesie for baby) for that matter; a big and small version of pretty much any animal, or something like a cat and mouse; Hansel and  Grettle (sp?); Cinderella and pumpkin or a mouse; Ariel and sebastian or   flounder; Pooh and piglet or a pot of honey; Eeyore and his tail-ok that might be a little weird  Wink but maybe the other could go as a pile of sticks aka eeyore's house ; or you could always go with a theme like sweet and sour with one as a dessert of some sort and the other as a lemon or something (ooh I need to figure out how to make a sour patch kid costume, hmmm...)
I have always wanted to do a theme using the colors of one of my favorite teams, for example gold could be represented really easily by drawing the Au symbol from the periodic table on a t and blue could be blue (the dog). Together you have gold and blue (go 'eers). this way you could relate the two and easily make costumes appropriate for each child because there are so many options to represent most colors. I guess this only works if you are a sports fan though. (I hope that made at least a little sense   Undecided )
I am going to stop now, because I could go on forever if I let myself.
5  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Doctor Who Costume Input Requested on: August 24, 2008 10:33:39 AM
Miss Violaceous's thrift store idea might be the easiest route, especially if he does not absolutely have to be the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant). I am guessing he wants to be the current doctor though Wink . But, if you are a knitter or know someone who is, making a scarf like one of Tom Baker's would be an easy way to disguise a not exactly accurate costume. You might even be able to get away with sewing a kind of patchwork version, if that makes sense. Sorry if I'm a bit incoherent, I am rather new to sewing and Doctor Who.
I would love to see what you come up with.
6  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: Mythbusters Poppets- DO NOT LOOK MOJEN on: August 23, 2008 06:45:25 AM
I normally don't like poppets but these are FAN-DAMN-TASTIC!!!!
I would pay for these....oh and one of Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs lol

I concur! I'm not a poppet kinda girl, but my love of all things discovery trumps all! How frickin' awesome would it be to own your own wee mythbusters, I guess the lucky Mojen will know  Wink . I am picturing a mini M5 with wee props and experiments and, of course, the sidekicks (including Buster). Did I mention these are awesome.
7  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Re: My feet will EXTERMINATE you on: August 22, 2008 11:34:07 AM
Love! I am also quite impressed you managed to make them match, and look so Dalek-y  Huh  I wish my feet could don such awesome evilness!
(I now have that "exterminate" voice stuck in my head).  Cheesy
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Rainbow Patchwork Skirt on: July 28, 2008 07:57:25 PM
Absolutely stunning. I have been wanting to make one of these, and I think you may have just given me the kick in the butt I needed. I understand the family non-appreciation, my first attempt at knitting lace was a scarf for my grandmother, her response, "What am I supposed to do with this?" The scarf was no less beautiful in my eyes, but in some way my grandmother was. Cry
I have a note card on my wall that I walk by every day that reads "The only kind of dignity which is genuine is that which is not diminished by the indifference of others."
- Dag Hammerskjold -
The beauty of your work is genuine, it cannot, therefore, be diminished by others.  Wink

10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: yellow dress with bubble hem on: July 13, 2008 07:02:07 PM
Love the dress. I agree with the belt/sash suggestion, and maybe a bit of lace (black?) peeking out at the top of the bodice?-I'm sure whatever you do will be lovely, as the dress is beautiful to begin with!
