1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / My first inchie project on: June 25, 2009 06:14:31 AM
I have been having a go with some inchies, but not very seriously.  Then a friend told me she was leaving and going back to Germany and would I meet her next day to say "bye" - help.   Idea!  why not make her a card, giving me a place for best wishes and also details of how to keep in contact.

The inchies form a flower and I have placed bugs around - also the moon, no sun I'm afraid but two moons.

Anyway she was delighted, and I am now doing more, when I can.

This was the best photo, really think I need a new camera as close ups go a little blurry.

2  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Quilt based on rug from Turkey on: June 25, 2009 06:05:04 AM
This is a quilt that I promised my partner I would complete.  However, it was hot here in Seville and it was left for a while.  When his birthday was approaching fast, I thought I would complete and give to him as a gift for being so patient - not.

The inspiration came from a rug that we purchased whilst in Turkey a long while ago.

It was difficult to get the colours exactly, but the theme is there.  This had to go onto a sofa which is next to the rug, so it was kind of important.

Anyway, here it is finished and quilted  by hand by me for the first time.

I have made other patchwork projects, but find quilting them a little daunting.  However, have now done and will do again, but maybe on a smaller project.

By the way I quilted a few hearts and I think he spotted them.  Anyway in use every day now as the sofa is very light in colour.

Hope you like it.

3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / my interpretation of Seville and Spain in general on: May 28, 2009 06:08:26 AM
This is my first posting on Craftster, although I have been doing lots of crafting over the last 18 months or so whilst I have been living in Seville, Spain.  This is mostly as a result of a crafting friend who has urged and inspired me to take this long lost passion up again after almost 20 years.

This piece of work has evolved, but started with applicaqued pieces which I used for the garden effect, with the buttons and beads acting as the flowers. Most of the items have been found in Spain, from a local market for the buttons to the shells, which I have an urge to collect every time we visit the beach, much to my partner's disgust.  I wanted to make sure I represented all that I have noted since being here, down to the bugs and wildlife.  Yes I know I have not put in the obligatory bull.  However, I have made an olive and orange grove, plus a vine and because in our local town we have chickens seemingly in the high street I've put them in here also.

It has been fun doing this and has pride of place just over the fire.  I have mounted by a piece of wood, found on a building site and held up by various threads, ribbon and wool.

This shows a slightly closer view and gives a view of the textures - I have used tapestry threads, embroidery silks plus the beads to make up flower heads.

It took approximately two months on and off - unfortunately I always seem to have three or four jobs on the go at anyone time.

Thanks for looking, hope you like it.  I am looking forward to talking about this for years to come, especially when I am back in Britain.  I would not say this was a family heirloom, more of a talking piece.  Maybe more will follow who knows!
