What a great idea! Practice makes perfect, I'm never happy with my sewing abilities, either. Smiley

I'm so impressed! I think I want to make one of those now . . . something my kids can't possibly break, lol. You've done an excellent job, especially being new.

Thanks! I really hope by the time he's 15, I'll have this whole cake making thing down, but for now, he's thrilled with what I can make. Smiley

What an awesome idea! I have one of these for my boys, but a commercial one. Yours is WAY better.
6  COOKING / Dessert / Mario Birthday Cake for My 5 Year Old on: December 24, 2010 08:18:46 AM
My son is head over heels for Mario, so for his birthday a week ago, we got him a few games and I made him a cake. It's not perfect, but you never would have known from the shrieks he and his brother let out when they saw it!

It was just a regular sheet cake, one layer chocolate, one layer yellow cake, then decorated with buttercream and buttercream fondant.

(please excuse the mess, I took some of these before cleaning my disastrous kitchen . .. which actually my husband later cleaned for me AND did dishes!)

And the excited birthday boy who told me, "Thank you for making this AWESOME cake, mama!"

Oh, this is so cute. I`m not a Hello Kitty person, but my sister is, big time. I`m looking for something to make her for Christmas and this could be just the thing . . . maybe on some tea towels or a toiletry bag? Smiley

Those are really cool. My sister made me some frames like that with vintage Coke ads years ago for my collection.
