1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Mug Rug round 7? on: August 10, 2017 02:58:59 PM
It's happening soon! I just got back from a vacation, and I was delaying because I didn't want to be gone for that chunk of time during the swap. I'll try to get this going in the next week or so! I'm glad there's so much interest.
2  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Blackberry Cobbler & Chantilly Cream on: July 28, 2017 12:26:20 PM
I used this recipe a couple days ago, so thanks for sharing! I may have used too much of the topping for the size of my pan, but it was tasty all the same.

This looks so good, I think I'm going to make it this week with some mixed berries. Thank you!

Smeddley, it's funny that you say that about your paintings for the Wing Buffet prompt, because I really love them! Great style and colors.

Prompt: July #5 - The Guild of the Boring and Unnoticed
Team: Makers
Bonus Points: -
Project Name: Shoe maintenance
Project Link: -
Brief Description: A project that's both boring and useful! I repaired my sandals that were coming apart from the soles, and waxed my shoes that were getting dingy. They also got a bit of glue in the same spot as the sandals - I guess I'm hard on shoes in that spot!
Project Picture: Pictures show one shoe polished with nikwax compared to the untreated mate, sandals separating from the sole then glued with E6000, and both pairs finished.

Prompt: Zap #4
Team: Makers
Bonus Points: Engineering
Project Name: Lavender infused strawberry & coconut popsicles
Project Link: -
Brief Description: Love this flavor combination! If you want to make these, here is my recipe:
Simmer 1 can of coconut milk with 2 tbsp honey and 1 tbsp culinary lavender, then let cool and strain out the flowers.
Slice 2 cups of strawberries and simmer with 1 tbsp sugar for 5-10 minutes until syrupy.
Layer both mixtures in your popsicle molds and freeze!
I didn't do this, but I think adding yogurt to the coconut milk would make for a thicker liquid and keep the finished product from separating like mine did. Try it if you want a more even, marbled look!
Project Picture: Pictured is 1 out of 6 popsicles produced by this recipe. I had a bit of coconut mixture left, which was great in my morning oatmeal.

I'd love to play! I vote for Thursday the 10th, because I will be on vacation before that.

Prompt: June #1 - Swamp of Undrying Glue
Team: Makers
Bonus Points: -
Project Name: Sugar-free Strawberry Jam
Project Link: -
Brief Description: It felt like this would never be done - my recipe said it would cook in 30 minutes, but I ended up boiling it for two hours trying to get the jell set! I'm still not completely satisfied with the consistency, but I was ready to be DONE.

Prompt: July #1 - Threadneedle Guild
Team: Makers
Bonus Points: -
Project Name: Strawberry Vanilla Sherbet
Project Link: https://brooklynsupper.com/vanilla-bean-strawberry-sherbet/#more-11667
Brief Description: I needed a steady hand to transfer this mixture to my ice cream maker - you have to pour it in while the mixer is turning, otherwise it will freeze instantly to the sides and the blade will jam. And pay attention to timing so you don't over-whip the cream, or let the ice cream maker run too long!
Project Picture: Pictured is one batch ready for the ice cream maker, and one batch done and frozen.

Prompt: July #3 - Accountant Sea Guild
Team: Makers
Bonus Points: -
Project Name: CranRazz Preserves
Project Link: -
Brief Description: Home canning saves me a lot of money, especially because I get my main ingredients for free at the farm where I work. I can have top quality food for very little money, and I always have a nice gift on hand.

Prompt: Zap #2
Team: Makers
Bonus Points: -
Project Name: Garlic Scape Butter

Brief Description: Picked scapes from my garden, blitzed them with two sticks of butter, and froze it in a log. I've already cut bits off to cook grilled cheese sandwiches, so good!
Project Picture:

Prompt: Zap #3
Team: Makers
Bonus Points: -
Project Name: Windowbox planting
Project Link: -
Brief Description: There was a neglected box on the side of our shed, and I just couldn't leave it to the weeds. Planted seedum and calibrichoa.
