1  Brazilian Samba/Showgirl Costume in Costumes: Completed Projects by PinkMafia on: April 14, 2013 04:17:23 PM
It's been MANY, MANY years since I posted and I have a lot to share... Cheesy This is a traditional samba costume that i made from scratch.

Headdress features:
wire form base
hand dyed feathers

Bra features:
hand form wire frame

This costume probably took about 40+ hours of sweat, love and lots of rhinestoning.  Grin

I appreciate all feedback, comments, and suggestions for making wire forming easier. Smiley I am completely self taught and am sure there are some tricks i am not aware of.

6  Steam Punk Automatum Girl- Burlesque Costume in Costumes: Completed Projects by PinkMafia on: November 09, 2009 11:52:59 AM
I made this costume for a burlesque number where i am a wind up doll. I don't have a good pic of me on the box though!

close to the end:

if you look really hard you can see the metal bow on my butt. its my favorite part of the whole costume:

Crafty work from the head down-

I added clock parts and beads to the wig.

Sewed the collar, skirt and cage skirt
embellished the shirt to add black shoulder things, black buttons, etc.
took apart a waist cinch and created a new one from it.
created arm warmers (didn't get a picture with both! each was different)
made thigh highs from tights
made the clock work by adding standard parts and hands.

This was my favorite costume I've made yet.  Cheesy

7  Victorian Geisha Burlesque Costume in Costumes: Completed Projects by PinkMafia on: September 21, 2009 01:32:53 PM
This is my latest creation. It is a victorian geisha.

I made the bustle (which i don't have a great picture of!) and obi. Then I reconstructed an outdoor christmas snowman for the lantern skirt and added the decorations to the wig. It was easy and super fun to make.

10  Mardis Gras Costume in Costumes: Completed Projects by PinkMafia on: February 26, 2009 03:24:28 PM
I was part of a parade for Mardi Gras and made a costume- bottoms, bra and headpiece. It took FOREVER and is not even as detailed as I wanted. But for the most part I'm happy with it.

For the Bra I hand sewed some leaf trim, beads and sequins. It was very time consuming. Cheesy
For the bottoms i made an elastic belt. I added the leaf trim and then the hanging beads. I actually had to string those myself and that alone took 4 hours!
The headpiece was a very quick project. I am adding more white feathers so it is fuller.

I did get professional photos of this costume so I will try and post some with better detail.  Cheesy
