I was kind of going "elvish" with that hat, so I hope it wasn't too silly.  Tongue

Its adorable! My husband and I were joking that it made my daughter look like a garden gnome... lol. But, I really like it!!

Yesterday, I got my package from blushingbluegrass!! Let me tell you... There was a lot jammed into a little box! I really liked everything Smiley The kids wanted to model, so try to overlook their cuteness and focus on the swap goodies Tongue

First, there was a set of a Harry Potter themed hat and arm warmers. My daughter took the arm warmers and played with them for several hours last night. I discovered that arm warmers also make good leg warmers and robot arms. Who knew?

Sorry for the crap cell phone pics. My camera decided to have a fussy day and not work properly. Here's a better view of the hat.

Next was a sewn scarf with a pocket in it. My son thought this was the coolest thing on the planet.

Then, for the drink accessory there was a green and black checkered coffee cup sleeve which fits my favorite coffee cup perfectly. She also included two bars of lavender cp soap out of her first ever batch. I am excited to try these. They smell lovely Smiley

For the hot drink, she sent me some loose leaf chai tea from a local shop and a tea strainer. I couldn't get a shot of the strainer because my husband was busy trying to drink all the tea before I could get any Tongue

Thank you so much, blushingbluegrass for a great swap package! I'm still working hard on yours, and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed mine. Since I didn't get the best quality pictures, feel free to post them if you have better ones Smiley

Income Tax Refund + Me + Fabric/Craft Store = EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!!!

I finally get to go shopping for fabric and notions tomorrow! YAY!! I have the pattern cut out, and I have a general idea about what kind of fabrics I want for the purse/accessories. Plus, I have to get fabric to make my first quilt. Thank goodness its only a baby quilt. Maybe I won't cry too hard while making it... haha.

I can't wait to get started on this purse!!!!

I think I started on this swap tonight... lol. I made some things and I'm still not sure how they are going to come out in the end. So, it may be part of the package... Or it may just have been something else that will end up in my To-Be-Finished pile. Tongue

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh! my sewing machine is frustrating me  Angry
i am only a few stiches away from finishing my purse and it is acting up... ugh!
i think i needed to stop for the night anyhow...
its probably an easy fix and when i am not so tired and irritated im sure itll be okay

That's what always happens to me. I get to the very end of a project and everything starts going wrong. Mostly its because I stay up way too late trying to finish and I'm too tired to do anything right... Lol. Then, I get frustrated, go to bed, and finish it with no problems the next day. I do it every time, and I never learn my lesson Tongue

So, I decided that I didn't like how the drink accessory was turning out. I started on something else last night, and I'm happier with it. I plan on concentrating my efforts on that darn wearable tonight, though. I just need to keep repeating to myself, "It will be done soon. It is pretty. It will be done soon. It is pretty..." Lol  Cheesy

I always go over points. I'm never trying to do so, but if I have a lot of good ideas for something I know that person will like, I'm gonna make it for them. To me, the points are a minimum requirement. And, unless the swap organizer says that you MUST stick to the points, I just make sure I meet the minimum and craft what I want. I never care about what I might get in return. Even if I get only the minimum amount of crafted items in return, I don't get upset. Now, I've had a couple of duds. But, it wasn't because of the amount they sent. One was poor quality and one was someone that did something shady to me. I view my swap packages I send out like I look at Christmas gifts. I give to my friends and family without worrying about how much it was. I like the feeling of giving people things they like. If I wanted to look at swapping like a business, I would probably sell my stuff instead.

I really need to stop looking online for patterns... lol. I was looking at some of the free Amy Butler patterns last night, and I found something else I just *HAVE* to make. I've got a whole notebook full of projects lined up already and I still haven't bought fabric!!

Let me tell you, were were out of there as soon as I righted the display and they haven't set foot with me in any craft store ever since!  How embarassing!!!   Embarrassed

I used to get embarrassed over my kids acting up in public. But, I kinda just learned to roll with it after the time my oldest son who is 7 (who was 5 at the time) saw a man in an eye patch in Walmart one day and screamed, "LOOK MOM, A PIRATE!!!" I was totally mortified, but the man with the eye patch just laughed hysterically and said, "Argh, I am. But, I left my parrot at home, Matey..." So, I learned that most of the time when you are embarrassed about how your kids are acting, either people just really don't care or they actually find it funny. Totally not worth stressing over when there are so many other things as a mom to be stressed about!

Swap related: I found an awesome pattern for a filler item that I am totally psyched about! I'm thinking that I will end up crafting all of the five required items for fillers and then some because I have so many ideas piling up. That's what happens when you wait so long to get started. You end up with a list of ideas you just HAVE to make  Cheesy
