1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Tiny Travelling Teddies in Mint Tins on: January 01, 2013 10:38:01 PM
I have made these for christmas presents for twin girls who like to carry around little handbags, so thought then these little teddies could go with them. I have made them blankets, pillows and even a hot water bottle, all to fit in an altoid tin (we don't have these here in NZ so I am very lucky to have got some from a swap...)

The teddies are hand sewn and embroidered as are the hot water bottles, however the blankets and pillows are machine sewn.

Here is one before sewn up. They both have sewn hearts on their bottoms...hehehe...

Got the idea off the internet with the mice in the mint tins...we don't get good mint tins like these here in NZ so I was very lucky to get some in a swap so that I could use the tins for this project and give them as gifts to two little girls, I hope they will love them and enjoy playing with them.
2  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Some mini tiny crochet including mini dragon on: December 30, 2012 01:57:51 AM
As part of the Harry Potter Craftalong I made these:
To practice the shrinking solution I first used it on inanimate objects, beginning with a book, which is fairly small to start with, then I progressed to my travel case/chest (actually this was an accident, I spilt some on it as I walked past...must perfect the swelling solution next to fix this issue), then I went on to shrink the TV at home...ha!  still works just very tiny...and then I wanted to do the main event and an animate object...A DRAGON!  So I went outdoors to find me a dragon and came across this lovely common Welsh Green dragon, convinced him to eat a steak I had laced with the shrinking solution and vwala a lovely little dragon that I can now carry around in my pocket!

Started with my book:

Oops I shrunk my HP travelling case with sneakascope inside

Oops...I shrunk the TV!

(It is also going to be the head of a robot I am making...with pins for antenna at the moment)

For the shrinking spell, advanced after the book, travelling case and TV to the animated creature of a giant dragon! Well used to be giant now he is just under 2 inches tall and 1 inch wide, not counting his wing span...worked a charm...well a potion.

I embroidered on his nose and eyes and did extra crochet details of the contrast colours for spikes, wing outlines and belly.

It was fun crocheting tiny things...especially the dragon... Grin
3  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Zebra and Giraffe for my niece on: December 28, 2012 11:56:00 PM
Here are the giraffe and zebra I made for my niece:

Bought the donkey pattern but have change it and converted it into a zebra for my darling niece.
(just found out they changed their name but are still on etsy for patterns, they are great patterns, love them, easy to follow and read and create super cute creatures, wish I had them all, thats how awesome they all are!
From the etsy store: http://www.etsy.com/shop/esbelotta/sold?ref=shopinfo_sale...

And the giraffe I used this free pattern but with more spots and darker colours:

More photos are on my ravelry projects pages...if you want to see more angles.

Hope you like them, she did, cuddled them lots and even took the giraffe for a dance with Barbie...hehehe...gorgeous wee child.  Grin
4  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Viking (a Scottish Viking in fact) on: December 28, 2012 11:24:50 PM
Here is the Scottish Viking I made on request for a friend.
I used the body pattern from the pillow pixie elf by Peggytoes: http://www.craftsy.com/pattern/crocheting/toy/pillow-pixi...

though I changed the ears and made the rest up, the hair took ages but I wanted it to look wild and woolly, which I think looked great. Then I did a sewn kilt and felt shirt as well as a sporran and a kilt pinwhat do you think? My friend loved it! oh and a polymer clay viking axe and viking hammer with bamboo handles.

Here he is whilst his outfit was in progress...but still has his shirt on to keep his dignity (o= ha!

with kilt on but without sash at this stage...

Close up of some of his details...

His back

with sash

with viking hat and shield

a close look at his eyes and eye brows

another close up this time of his kilt pin and pouch

with his shield

I made them out of polymer clay and bamboo sticks.

With his tools/weapons:

I also made detachable genitals as she wanted some for a laugh but not all the time so that her kids wouldn't see, but I didn't take a photo of them...they had the hook velcro on them so that they just stuck to the wool when wanting to.   Grin

What do you think of him?
5  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Baby bear hat and booties on: December 28, 2012 11:10:24 PM
Here is the baby bear hat and booties set I made recently

I used a baby booties pattern free off the internet (check out: http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/70225AD.html )
and then made up the foot print pads and just made a baby hat and then made up circular ears and inner ears and then proceeded to sew them on.

6  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Car storage and road mat on: December 28, 2012 11:00:10 PM
I made this car storage and road mat for my nephew for Christmas.  I have seen several online before and really wanted to make one for my nephew so I made this one of my own design, I used sewing, applique and fabric painting as well as the plug in end of the ear phone things for the fuel pump.

In progress still painting:

Completed now  Grin :

Here are some of the details up close...the long velcro pocket to allow for maximum storage and ease...and some of the details of the buildings too

The details on the road works section, with rocks and gravel piles and road cones.

The details on some more of the buildings including the fuel pump, pak n save supermarket and garage.

The house and trees and tiny machine sewn flowers with painted details.

All rolled up and folded over.

Anyway, that is my creation, what do you think?

The collection:

I love this purple:

And the tomatoes:

Would love to hear what you think about the different hats and which ones you like the best?  As my first adventure into them I would love to get feedback...especially as I am donating them so may not hear back from those who get them you see...  Grin
